1H Sword Super Spreadsheet:
docs.google.co...
This first installment of the Code Vein Weapons Super Guide will take a look at all the 1-Handed swords. The weapons from the base game will be first followed by the DLC weapons. I might have used different builds while recording the movesets, so just ignore any damage mismatches. The numbers in the spreadsheet are all done with the same build, however.

If you really want the Black Saber, the easiest way to acquire it would be farm it off the start of the Crypt Spire since the mistle is pretty much right beside you and there are no enemies in between you and him. I actually used Blazing Claw and Iceblood on my NG+ stun build, although I did have to modify the build to make it viable against Skull King and Virgin Born.

That first Black Saber guy in Crypt Spire is definitely the easiest one to farm, but if you want it as early as possible the hike to get to the one in the Cathedral isn't so bad. I've never really been a huge fan of the weapons with built-in elemental damage. Even choosing to lean into their elements with a transformation and elemental buff still feels lacking compared to a similar weapon that's pure physical with Bridge. But that's just my opinion. Status Debuff builds are quite effective and fun, however. The low weight and quick swings of the Iceblood actually makes it better for that kind of approach.

I totally agree with you on the Sunset sword. For what you use it for, its amazing. And people do look down on it. Debuff builds are fun. Btw your vids are really good :)

My goal is to beat the game with the lost sword you find in the beginning. I have it attuned to devour and building a spellblade with it, love the simplicity of its moveset.

Mobility question Is there a way to have quick mobility with the prayer Shawl and executioner? (And libertador but that should be easier) I wanna be able to use both the one handed and bayonet mastery and swift destruction. And revenants ambition if I have to. But I still want enough stats to equip both and have good DEX, MIND, and WILL🤔 I tried ambition and alleviation but am I just using the wrong Bloodcode??

Hey there, I'm u/Blade_of_Kyrie in case you remember me. I posted my comment here instead of reddit because I try not to use reddit much. First of all, I have to thank you for the parrying guide. I knew that profile pic looked familiar too. With that said, here's what I have to say about the guide in general. -First off, you didn’t mention swords benefit disproportionately from focus. While you showcased the special heavy/launch attack, you didn’t showcase the special light attack. The special light attack will stagger enemies without fail when focused. While this applies to every weapon in the game, it’s more important for swords due to their lower balance damage. So, if the sword’s special light attack has knockdown property, you have access to a reliable crowd control move. In my opinion, this makes special light attacks an important move to consider when choosing a sword. Or any weapon. -You didn’t bring defence ratings up at all. I know, putting all resources into offense is the best way to play, but it is not the only way to play. In fact, I hate playing meta, but this is not the point here. Variety is part of why Code Vein is a contender for my favourite game ever, and defence is just as important as offense for the average player. Not every player will be able to be frame-perfect or flawlessly dodge everything, and taking attacks head-on is the worst kind of defence. I am aware swords aren’t that great at defending, but a panic block is still better than eating the attack. Now, for the weapons themselves. -If you value a weapon’s moveset more than its damage, I don’t think it gets better than the Queenslayer Blade. It has an excellent special light attack and excellent heavy attacks. Its uncharged heavy is a boring-but-practical slash, and its charged heavy is an incredible gap closer and whiff-punish option (with Time Crunch active obviously). I may be biased because it’s my favourite weapon in the game, but I truly believe this is the most underrated sword. If I had to judge its overall utility, I’d say it’s marginally less useful than the Argent Wolf Blade, if not equally useful. -The Sunset Sword is outclassed in every way I can think of. If you like its moveset, the Queenslayer Blade is a straight upgrade due to the special light attack. If you want a status stick and ichor generator, the Crimson Longsword is a straight upgrade, since it deals more damage and has better defence ratings (though I’ll admit this option is not available to everyone). If you don’t care about ichor and simply want a status stick, the pipe is better because it’s the quick dodge enabler, and status transformations are a flat addition. -The Iceblood. I agree 100% that it is not great for a pure melee build, since you can just slap Frost Weapon on a Queenslayer Blade or an Argent Wolf Blade and outperform it. However, the Iceblood is the ideal mage sidearm. Extremely low weight, its special light and uncharged heavy attacks are both amazing, and a ton of enemies are weak to ice. -The Crimson Longsword is both the lightest and the fastest weapon that can achieve 100% block in all three physical damage types. It’s also more damaging than the Sunset Sword, making it a perfect sidearm for pretty much any build that appreciates the overall utility of swords. And most importantly, Alisa is a good girl. I think that’s all I have to say, and I’m sorry if all this was too much to read. As for the rest of the video, I have no complaints. Great music, clear and helpful commentary, very accurate background gameplay, and the damage table was a very nice bonus. Seriously, I cannot imagine how long that took. This was an excellent watch, and I’m looking forward to the next one.

It's good to hear from you again! Thanks for the very in-depth reply! I really appreciate it! The special light attacks are the same as the combo weak attacks. Being focused didn't seem to make much of a difference from my observations. What's more important is keeping track of how many attacks it takes to stagger an enemy and using a combo weak attack as the one that overcomes their balance stat. The little baby lost you encounter in the Ruined City Underground have virtually no balance to speak of and will be staggered/knocked down by a single attack. The batgirls and cathedral knights almost always need 4. The bigger enemies are weird because some of their attacks grant them increased balance during the duration of the attack. Like the white snow guys winding up their big chop. It's quite difficult to break them out of that attack. I 100% neglected to talk about defense. I was too focused on getting all the other info straightened out that I forgot to mention it lol. More over if I'm using a light weapon I usually slap on Steady Bulwark if I really need to block something. To that point I'm gonna have to take a closer look at the Crimson Longsword. I just recently learned that it has pretty decent blocking abilities, I just never realized that it could achieve 100% block! The Queenslayer Blade is definitely a really good weapon. I might have been slightly biased with the commentary about the Sunset Sword mostly because you can get 4 of them in a playthrough pretty easily, one for each status transformation. But yeah. The Queenslayer 1H Sword is definitely superior. I'll have to take another look at the pipe as a status stacker weapon. I feel like there was a reason why I never really used it as one. Maybe in one of the old patches it dealt decreased status build-up or something? I dunno. I'm gonna check this right now. Holy crap, you're right! You should use a pipe instead of a Sunset Sword. If you really need a drain weapon you can use something else besides a pipe transformed to devour. You are quite correct about Iceblood as well. The light weight is ideal for mages who need to carry beefy casting armor rather than a beefy weapon. There's a few situations where you really, really need pure physical damage, however. Skull King's damage resistance slowly ratchets up as the fight continues to the point where your damage takes a pretty significant hit because it is split. Then again, it's easiest just to cast him to death so this point is somewhat moot. Virgin Born is a bit of a different story though. That's just too much resistance. A light, pure physical weapon transformed to devour would be better. Perhaps this might just have to be a point of disagreement since I play at low levels quite a bit, but Iceblood just can't keep up with pure physical weapons. Even enemies that are weak to ice damage. Again, this is probably a subjective opinion of mine but Iceblood didn't impress my level 1 self despite otherwise being a really... cool weapon. (I MAED A FUNNNY)

Hello again! Hopefully you've been doing well. Since you covered pretty much everything with your response, this comment is going to be significantly shorter. I only have a couple of stuff to point out this time. First of all, if you’re going to be throwing ice-cold jokes, notify me in advance in order to take a blanket beforehand. _kappa_ Anyway, the Iceblood is similar to the Blacksteel Katana from Dark Souls 2, if you’ve played that. Both of them have extremely low base damage and such immense stat scaling that using them at low levels will leave them severely underpowered. This is exactly why your level 1 character couldn’t use the Iceblood very effectively. And unlike a lot of other weapons, you’re not going to get much mileage out of an Eos Chrome either, since its base damage is so low. On the other hand, using the Iceblood with Isis and Scathach has yielded incredible results for me, though the Queenslayer Blade with Frost Weapon was still much better for burst damage. And now, prepare to be blown away. I saved the best for last. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p8maqJR1s8jMZo0.html This is an unlisted video I made today, in order to show you what I meant about the interaction between focus and combo light attacks. While keeping track of enemies' balance is good advice I try to follow myself, sometimes things get too hectic to count which enemy has been hit a specific amount of times. Invasions are especially guilty of this.

@@Yoshi15550 MY GOD, THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS. I've been playing since release and never thought to test focus with combo weak attacks! You've earned MVP for this contribution.

Yep. Outrageous is the best way to describe this. It's one reason why I only use the Queenslayer Bayonet, even if it gets outclassed in almost every way. Though I haven't really messed around with the Bayonet. That aside, I'm glad I was able to help once again. www.reddit.com/r/codevein/comments/erdlfx/a_very_indepth_guide_on_how_focus_and_balance/ This is the thread I originally found out about this. It's a really good read, even when focus and balance aren't used frequently.

I am late to the game, but can the Argent Wolf Blade not do the same as the Sunset Sword? Why is the Sunset Sword better for status?
@neroblack2704
@neroblack2704 6 ай бұрын
Late response but replying for anyone wondering the same thing: they can both do the same thing sure but the Sunset Sword has lower stat requirements meaning it can be used as a secondary weapon on any build while the Argent Wolf due to having better stats is better suited as a build defining weapon (Devour for caster builds, fortification or Elevation for melee?), the ease of gathering Sunset swords also means you can easily make a sword for each debuff (though I'd personally recommend only bothering with 1 poison for bosses and 1 Stun for Mobs/poison immune bosses)

I disagree I say the fire and the lightning blade from the DLCs are two of the best one-handed weapons in the game the fulcrum is definitely slow but there's not a single one-handed weapon that hits harder than that if you can get around the slow swing speed that weapon just slaps everything it just slaps I'm with you I really wanted to like that weapon too if it was in a different one-handed category than the broadsword single-handedly that would have been the best weapon in the game

@PseudoDrifter
@PseudoDrifter 2 жыл бұрын
They were all done with +10 weapons. The miasma is the funky vampire stank the Lost give off, polluting and corrupting everything it touches. Gameplay-wise it's why your character has a gas mask while exploring. The Sunset sword is good because it's a fast 1H sword and it's pretty common to have a bunch by the end of a normal playthrough. You could buy infinite Queenslayer 1H swords at Rin's shop after you collect that first one in the underground tutorial area, but why not give the 4 sitting in your inventory a purpose and save some haze at the same time?
