Brotha, I made some indian friends during my degree. I’m an indian american born and brought up in the US, I never once did I appreciate being in America until my friends told me about their problems. Its worth coming here if you have a lot of money and you know you’re gonna get a job here. Otherwise its a risky investment. Now whether I get a job or not, i can stay in the US for as long as I like because I’m a citizen. But its not the same for my friends and people gotta be prepared for those kinda of eventualities.
@codebasics

I agree. But I have interacted with so many non US citizens here and majority of them end up staying here.. since they have a need they work extra hard and get a job. There is rare percentage who has to go back and it can kind of ruin their plans.

Hi Dhaval. Thanks for your efforts to share you knowledge and experience. I have been following your videos for quite some time. I have a suggestion for you to consider. Do you have any arrangement where someone can pay and book one-to-one session with you for specified time (30 min, 1 hr, etc.) to ask you specific questions that you may or may not have covered in your videos. This setup will benefit you for your time and gives other the opportunity to have their specific questions answered. Also, since this will be a paid service, people will be respectful of your time. This gives some of us who have limited free-time the opportunity to get immediate answers without the need to go thru all your videos. I believe this will be a win-win for everyone. Thanks for your feedback.
@codebasics

Syed, that is indeed a good suggestion and I get your point. The issue is my time availibility. With 9 to 6 job and youtube as a side hustle I rarely have even 30 minutes for a consultation. I try to give my knowledge for free via youtube comments and videos. During that process I also understand needs and questions that people have and I plan my future videos accordingly. But thanks again for giving detailed feedback

@codebasics
@codebasics 3 жыл бұрын
In 2020 USCIS received more than 200k applications for total 85000 yearly limit of h1b. So chances of getting rejected for h1b are 50, 50%. There is a huge competition there as IT service companies like TCS, Infosys apply for so many h1bs in bulk. If you are studying here on masters and even if you get a job you might get rejection for h1b. Bright side is that you get 3 chances (3 year OPT) and most likely you will make it through this.

AGain depends on which state you live in. IF you are in silicon valley, and earn 150k $ a year you are considered poor. If you earn that kind of money in texas lets say you are considered very well off. Texas doesn't have state tax and housing is quite cheap. Whereas california and New york, new jersey has very high property/state tax plus house prices are quite expensive.

Hello Sir, I have 6 years of experience in software development and I am planning to do my MS from US. I am really confused whether I should go for CS and choose electives for Machine learning or should I do MS in Data Science/Machine Learning. Awaiting your reply. Thanks in advance.

I would go for computer science with electives in machine learning and data science. That way you have the option for doing job as computer engineer as well as data scientist. For one data scientist job there will be 30 software engineer jobs. You need to get a job in order to file h1b visa hence I would strongly suggest comp science course.

@@tanvishah9085 Hi Tanvi, hope you're doing fine. I have 3.5 years of experience as software developer in an MNC in India. I am planning to do my masters in US. Do you know if my experience in India will be considered or will I have to start as a fresher after my masters in US.

Agreed but many times I see that people with and without GC are living same life (working for an employer in 9 to 6 job) Having GC is meaningful if you want to start a business etc. I am not at all saying GC is meaningless, it has many benefits but in practical situation for real I have seen many many cases where people live same kind of lifestyle (other than having to go for stamping and h1b renewals)

How to get masters done US in the best affordable amount of money?
@codebasics

you will be spending minimum 40000$ for your entire masters. There is nothing like affordable education in USA, it is purely a business and money oriented segment here.
