just a few things you need to work on 1 that needs to have a certificate of compliance from a registered electrician if your planning to use that at a public event... 2 get a sign that says danger 240v volts NOT a high voltage sticker 3 get GFCI on the outlets on the distro 4 you also need a main circuit breaker on the panel and then one for each output so thats 5 total the ones internal are pointless 5 the volt and amp meters need to be displayed externally.. 6 NO EXPOSED WIRES OUT OF THE BREAKERS OR METERS!!!! 7 current chokes are too close together 8 Gourd/earth wires must be insulated 9 with your hertz meters fluctuating like that your going to need a power conditioner 10 take the screws out and replace them with nuts and bolts then ground then to the bus bar that grounds to the generator then attach the generator to an ground/earth rod 11 get a cap to protect the pins 12 get a UPS to protect your decks and computers

gfci? you must never use big amps....
@Heywoodj1969

Yeah GFCI is no good for high power amps... startup alone trips them, and no, there is not a problem with the amps... I actually spec jobs to events that say NO GFCI panels... anything I provide for stage power, I have separate duplex boxes with gfci protection, but my amps / lighting get straight breaker circuits.

Also you should add bushings where the wires are going out to the duplex boxes. Looks like you have raw metal holes that you may have 'chewed' or drilled out. Especially given this is a mobile box, those sharp edges are eventually going to tear into the wires and you'll have big problems. To make the holes in the metal boxes use knock-out punches, not a drill. Hope is helpful.

L1 & L2 are 180 degrees out of phase relative to one another. As such, the neutral only carries the difference current not the sum. I don't see bushings on the pass through holes in the sides of the case. Chase nipples are intended for that use, check them out. Consider using pop rivets to mount the boxes with in future projects. Nose piece on a pneumatic rivet puller will easily fit into those boxes. Always make connections BEFORE powering up. Reverse for tear-down, de-energize circuits, then break connections. The 125V boxes appear to be residential plastic boxes - Outdoor Bell type boxes are great for that type of use.

Nice Distro. Well thought out. Something I just learned is to figure-8 coil your excess distro cable. 8awg and 10awg cable pulling 30-40A coiled in a 2'-3' round can act as a big 60Hz inductor. It can do funny things the AC power feeding your distro. I think it has to do with current/voltage phase issues. Two suggestions: Replace the cable connection to the box with a 30A twist lock plug and socket. A big box on the end of a long heavy cable sucks. Cut a square hole in the front and install a plexiglas window so you can see the 120v meters.

So I had actually already changed the box to have a twist lock plug on it. That allowed me to get a few different lengths of feeders to minimize the runs! Great ideas!

Pro tip... get another pair of L14/30 plug set to get your panel disconnected from 150’ of #8 - its easier to transport without it, and would allow you to use shorter cables when you don’t need the 150’. Also you would be incorrect about hooking up to a “dryer plug”... you are exceeding the available power rating for the cable - even though you are breakered at your box. Power safety is all about the “what if”. Sounds like you have a good understanding about this though, which already has you ahead of 75% of youtube content. Also get some protection on the wires entering the box, the rough cut holes might eat up that solid core casing.

Being fed on 240v if you load both phase at 20amp your neutral won't carry any load

Pro tip. Rent a 8 to 12 KW diesel generator. Use the 50A 259V twist lock outputs to twist lock cable. Rent the cords in 100 foot lengths to contractor spider boxes. This drops 6 20 AMP outlets at the stage, while the generator is about as loud as a car at fast idle. Needless to say, the difference between an air cooled and water cooled generator is huge. Check with your local Sunbelt, United, or other heavy equipment rental place. I have run the generator less than 90 feet from the stage and with the program going, it could not be heard. In my area if you want to use a portable inverter generator, the rental rate is $40 daily or $105 weekly. I don't worry about having gas go bad in the carb for long term storage. If you need a generator no more than twice a year, it may pay to rent one instead. Fueled, maintained, and ready to run.

I'm getting into throwing mobile events potentially, and am just learning about power distro's and their use cases. I have no intention of wiring my own, but this was very insightful for how they are used. My only question- with 2 20amp circuits, what exactly are/ were you using in terms of equipment? Was this only for sound reinforcement, or were you able to power speakers, amps, as well as turntables/ decks etc. too?

Thank you for your video. I'm on the same page as you. I do stage setup, audio, church setup, Revival setup. And power is important, especially hooking things up to Outlet. 30amps or making a custom plug. Thanks for your knowledge, and yes Safety comes first. Be blessed my fren. Keep making videos. :)
