Cody was my main i watched (regretably) Darksydephil play him and i really liked Cody's style so learned him. Cody's frame traps and hard hitting combos just felt so good to do. Thank god i started researching and taking him to the lab, i cant stand watching DSP play him.

I remember maining Cody and Gen and getting private messages from people giving me props for maining them because rarely anyone used them when SF4 first dropped. One dude who beat me sent me a private message *yoooooo nice moves, dude. You don't run across too many Cody players*

This was the game that got me back to learning more with tactics. I hadn't played a fighting game since Capcom vs. SNK 2. They had Street Fighter V out. I chose this and I'm glad because I came across Juri. I never had a taekwondo character since Kim Kaphwan in Fatal Fury 2.

Finding your channel has been a blessing, i probably had idk smth like 80 hours in SFIV on the 360 and somethint crazy like 200 on SSFIV for the PS3. My sis got a second Dualshock controller so USFIV was all we played and her hating ass made sure to play Cody and spam Criminal Upper because i hated his voiceline when he did it 😂😂😂 we got on a few hair pulling matches of our own because of this damn game

@@acydrayn73 I don't believe in tiers in SF4 every character can cook. Every character has some dude that went crazy with said character. Example Smug with the Dudley, daigo on evil Ryu, poonko had a nasty Seth etc etc. someone somewhere was washing mamajamas with the most random and low tier characters. I ran into a hakan one day that had me contemplating my life choices

@frenchiee9662 yeah, but there's only a few characters that dominate others, elena, e.ryu, Yun, Akuma at one point, when they dominated there were no low tier winning grand finals

@@chefkennyeats very true on that part. It's just always gonna happen in every game. There's always gonna be that 1 character that just curbstomps every match up. In SF4 there were a few characters that just honestly ruined the game. Elena and Yun definitely were the main culprits NGL.

Hey smug jus wanted to say u motivate me alot when it comes to fighting games...i hope to be as fluent as u when it comes to playing a character...i currently main kimberly (rank Di 1) in sf6 and at times i can get things going pretty smoothly and other times not, but i hope to be as consistent as u one day...keep up the great content bro!

So I’m new too street fighter community, what made SF4 so good?

Sf4 had brand new mechanics like a universal armor attack in focus attack (inspired drive impact) as well as a focus attack dash cancel, a universal mechanic to cancel attack strings to extend combos (inspired drive cancels). This game was also a huge commercial success in arcades and brought alot of tournament success and players. Street fighter/fighting games were going through a dry spell at this time, so sf4 had alot of weight on its shoulders and it thankfully succeeded. The graphics and cinematics at the time were fresh and esthetically pleasing with the watercolor vibes, kinda tied in with Okami and other franchises that were jocking this style. Also at the time of this games release, alot of arcade kids of the 90s were now starting university or working and had more flexibility in their schedules which brought out alot of players. Also the time this game came out was followed by a recession, but that meant more people were playing video games during the job hunting. The NYC fgc/arcade scene was also peaking (more like a swan song) at this time before the collapse of the arcade scene. We had alot more in person community in this time. Online gaming came with its good and bad.

He can be cheap but if you only use Cody on the Omega setting (which is what I personally use) he gets real busted real fast. That Cody is kinda decent but he kinda sucks. Dudley hits mid to low for the most part, it makes no sense to hit high near his head unless you absolutely have to. I’m a Cody player myself but I’ve definitely seen better

I'm doing delay way wake-up. you have to press 2 buttons on hard knockdown. I was mashing 2 buttons, because online has delay, if you miss your delay wake up, you now have to deal with broken crossups, unblockables, etc.

One of the things I've always loved about dudley vs cody is that, no matter what, you're gonna get a slugfest because both characters like to push buttons like no tomorrow. And when you take that up to a higher level, like smug vs chin you're bound to get one of the greatest slug fights ever (those sets were always godlike) When you see a good cody, you know you're in for a good time. Great set. Stay blessed.
