Yo, for fuckin real, when he said Luke Bryan was better at country than Cody Jinks, the like I put on the video turned into a dislike. Luke Bryan is bro country, Cody Jinks is True Country. He should have said he didn't like country. that's better than lying and saying he likes country.

This is the worst reaction video of a song I have ever seen in my life. The whole song went over both of your heads. It’s not a uplifting country song. It’s a friend who lost his best friend to addiction after being in wars and how life and people change. Country isn’t just about trucks, beer, and women. There is so much more to it. It’s a bad take of the song.

Cody Jinks is real country not the poppy crap and he sang the song from the heart not singing for money. He was sad from this because it hit him hard. It’s clear you didn’t even understand the lyrics you just heard him singing from the heart with real instruments.

This was just good ole' country music. I'm not a big fan of it in general for some of the same reasons that Manny stated (there's just a lot of same-old, same-old in country music). I didn't dislike it, but it isn't memorable as you've stated. I will say that I found myself unconsciously tapping my foot though, so maybe that means something. Thanks for the review and keep up the good work!

Ahhh, now I see the Cody (What's his face) reference that got Manny all ornery from a previous reaction. I have to agree with Justin on all points and I can definitely see Manny's POV. Overall, there wasn't much going on with this song musically. Basic chord progression with the usual sprinkles of guitar melodies to fill up the musical space. The vocal tone was just a person telling a story. If there isn't much value in the music, then the story is all you have left. There were some interesting lines that pull at the heart stings (dudes mother is an ER nurse etc) but I've heard better stories. I'm at 2.5, and agree this song is forgettable.

DukesRocks the thing about country, is that it isn’t supposed to have great music. It’s described as just “chords and the truth”. It’s all to keep the focus on the important stories, emotion, and passion. That being said, this song did have something special in the music. The tempo remains consistent in this song, and that’s to drive in the point that no matter what happens in life, or how bad it gets, time always moves on and your life isn’t over. In my honest opinion, this song is genius, and songs full of passion and honesty don’t need strong music. It ruins the song most of the time anyway
@JeromeDukes

@@jeremylilly1054 One of the main reasons I will listen to country is for creative melodies and how they apply it in an arrangement of a song. This is mostly because I play guitar and I feel country musicians are some of the best to listen to for tips. While I agree with you on some points, genius is a bit of a stretch. For me this song is a dime a dozen in the world of country. For me there wan't anything in the arrangement, vocals or story that was memorable or inspiring.

Thanks Dukes. Its not a bad song, but I just felt that at this point we've personally heard country that's been more interesting and we've enjoyed more. If we had heard this earlier in our listening, we may have liked it more. -JP

@@jpmp1201 The Truth, that's what I like about the two of you. As a viewer, I'm looking for a fair and honest review. When it comes to country, the melodies is the number one factor, vocally and musically for me. The story for me is a bonus that put the song over the top. Take Zac Brown Band"s "Sweet Annie" as an example. What I like about the this song is the lead vocals are great. Then there's the harmonies that take the song to another level. The musicians however are my main interest. I love how they color up the song but mostly I love the bluegrass licks from the guitars and I think there's a violin there as well. However the lyrics are just ok. Now take a look at the song by Tim Mcgraw's "Don't take the Girl" that just tears your heart out. Now lets say you did a review of Don't take the Girl. Musically and vocally the song is just ok nothing great. The key is did you understand the story from the lyrics. I see you read the lyrics, but Manny doesn't and this is what I mean by a fair review. For me if I was hearing both Sweet Annie and Don't take the Girl for the first time. I would be no competition Sweet Annie would be rated higher. However, when you look at the Lyrics for both song, Don't take the Girl tugs on the heart strings more. I believe Manny is being honest in the review, but I also feel he doesn't have all the information and he could be missing out on some great lyrics.

I personally think it’s one of his best, and one of the best country songs in general. In my opinion, people just prefer songs the can have fun to, not songs that mean anything important. The simple music is what makes country so unique. They don’t rely on heavy instruments to capture the listener. It’s supposed to be really small and just complimentary towards the lyrics.

Thomas Giles - Sleep Shake (solo project from vocalist of Between the Buried and Me) 6. Weezer - The Greastest Man That Ever Lived (a theme song for both of you :D) 7. Death Cab For Cutie - Soul Meets Body (alt rock) 8. JUSTICE - Fire (electronic duo) 9. Snarky Puppy - Shofukan (YOU'RE WELCOME) 10. Something With Numbers - Twisted (rock) If y'all let me know if and when y'all decide to do one of my reqwests (:D) I'll quit posting this on everything! lol

🦃🦃 Like a lot of country music, way too literal with storytelling. Needs some poetry. Yeah, some poor kid drowned upside down. Must’ve been in Houston. Compare this song to Shawn Mullin’s ‘Gulf of Mexico’ kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iL2Plctknqelc4E.html. This song, from the album “Soul’s Core” is heartfelt and haunting. A gourmet stop on the country food tour. Barbecue Cajun fusion.

This is the kind of music that always makes me wonder...even more than why someone wants to listen to this...why does someone want to sound like that? This is nothing music to me, so I would agree with Manny on that zero rating. Elevator music. It has that Tom Petty vibe, but all toned down to the most simple structure and instrumentation. I would rather listen to any bro country, to be honest.
