We have never met, CoJo, but I am as proud as a father might be of what you stand for and all you have accomplished. I am so happy that you sang your way into my life. I feel like my story has finally been told. Keep those heart-felt songs coming, brother. And I'll keep praying that Christ will continue to bless your music. Lookin' forward to meeting you some day....... God bless you and yours! 😊😊😊

Don't sell your farm for anything. I drive places all the time that were a family that's now a development and miss seeing the land used for what it was meant for. That's something we have to fight to preserve in the country. Keep doing what your parents and grandparents taught you. Just because we're a rare breed doesn't mean we're one that needs to move on.

Sadly I don’t think there are enough hard core country folk for this song to resonate with anymore. After watching the CMA’s it seems like this kind of country is out of fashion. Not that I don’t think it’s worthy of winning awards, I do. I just have lost faith in the industry supporting real country artists anymore.

Heard this song for the first time this morning on my way to work, I've always liked Cody Johnsons music. I just bought my grandparents farm a couple years ago and being the dad of a 3 yr old little girl I was already hooked on the first line of the chorus but when he said the line about his best bud being buried beneath that white oak tree after 13 hunting seasons... this old boy just broke down and lost it in his truck driving down 214... awesome song man keep doing what you do and know your appreciated for it.

You aren’t the only one, My folks sold their small farm a few years ago. The dog we had as a kid is buried under a huge cottonwood. My first dog as an adult is buried there as well. It broke my heart when they sold their place even though I understood why. My husbands work has taken us to another state and they just couldn’t manage it any more. We lost dad last Christmas and I miss the old home place more every day. Cody sure know how to pull at the heart strings.

I picked up a wooded 80 from a farmer last year who went to a nursing home (she passed a couple months ago). My 7 year old made it very clear to me that I can NOT sell that land ever. I told him I do not have plans on it, and he better not ever sell it either when I'm gone. That's our hunting land, and where my bird dog will be buried some day.

Awesome song. Just read that Josh Phillips wrote this song and he thought Cody would be the best person to sing it. He was right.
