He's a good champion but he's been backed into a corner so to speak. Everyone they've built as a main eventer or credible threat to him has either taken time off, gone back to Hollywood or is injured (Roman, Rock, Drew, Punk Seth). It isn't realistic for anyone else to beat him so it kinda falls into a realm of predictability until one of them comes back or they build another star up to the level of potentially dethroning him. Until then they're going through the motions with little to no fault of himself. I think he's doing well with what he's got

Yeah Roman rarely being on TV was far more entertaining. and yes this is wrestling, historically the World Champion doesn't have to be on every show, most of the goats weren't so called "fighting champions". That is a relatively new wrestling trope that started somewhere in the late 2000's. before that the champion was treated as an attraction. The champion was only on the show if there was something for him to do. having your champion on every show is proven to be a failing strategy when trying to make the champion feel special, every wrestling historian or person in that was successful in the industry will tell you that. weather you like him or not you cant deny, Roman felt special, Cody does not

Cody's value was in the chase & WWE needs to give Michael Cole a raise for coining the phrase "Finish The Story" that truly got him chasing the belt in honor of Dusty Super Over. Before "Finish The Story" Cody's chase was a good angle but it wasn't a major hot story. I'd even say Kofi-Mania chasing the WWE title held by then WWE Champ Daniel Bryan was hotter. Then Cody wins the Royal Rumble, in pretty shitty fashion for a Babyface coming in at 30 & eliminating a Heel who had drawn #1 & Cole screams "Finish The Story!" & all of the sudden he became this Super Over sentimental Babyface. While Cody fans were Super Salty when Roman beat him at Wrestlemania 39, it was the right move for their guy because that just enhanced the chase. It became pretty clear after the Rumble Cody was going to win the title & as limited as he is on the mic and in the ring I predicted his true heat is chasing the title, not as champion. WWE had to pull the trigger at WM40 & now that he has the belt I think WWE would truly benefit having Cody getting screwed out of the title & go back to his true value as hunter or just overall Babyface. He hasn't turned into Cena or Shield Roman yet but its coming. I say nip it in the bud and get sympathy back on Cody by having him lose what he's wanted for so long

I agree he should lose it sooner than later but the problem is WWE has painted themselves into a corner by putting so much stock in Cody. If he keeps it for too long with this character he will lose the fans, and if he loses it too fast the fans will lose confidence in Cody being a top guy. I'd say wwe should cut their losses and just admit that he's not going to be a top guy in the long run. It's not like they're in desperate need for talent that is over rn

I thought I hated Roman , this man Cody made me realize I just loved to hate Roman . I think he should be on jey uso time , still in the main event , he’s worth that but no title , for now .

I appreciate your comment. I think a lot of people feel the same way but can't admit it for whatever reason. A lot of wrestling fans forget that we are supposed to hate the heels but they've been conditioned by decades of illogical wrestling, so they feel like they are being personally slighted when they dont get their way. or if someone isn't made the champion, that means they are getting buried or aren't being pushed. they care nothing about story telling, which is the entire point of pro wrestling

I'm not a Cody Rhodes Fan ... but people wanted cody to finish his story since last year's wrestlemania and the "we want cody" trend and chants plus everyone hated roman's long title reign .. and suddenly now just after less than 2 months, he successfully defended his title against AJ Styles and had a 5 stars match... i agree that his promo kinda boring, but man come onnnnn .. wrestling fans this days are 💩 you can't please anyone.. instead of enjoying wrestling (all companies: WWE, AEW, TNA and others)... all i hear is people crying, bi*ching, whining and talking nonsense.

@@crishaunthedon agree on everyting you say, maybe for some people the slow paced booking of Triple H is not for them, but I like it; except the Rock segment after Wrestlemania, I think they are doing a good job with Cody. I rather have him wrestling 2 matches a month and getting over quickly with the middle card and more competitive with opponents such as AJ, than how AEW has Serve wrestling a 20 min match with some unkown guy (much respect for Serve btw, the booking in AEW is horrible).

His title win was promoted as the "launch of a new era" and he's not living up to the hype.
