LYRICS:
YOU CAN TELL YOUR OLD MAN
YOU’LL DO SOME LARGE MOUTH FISHIN’ ANOTHER TIME
YOU JUST GOT TOO MUCH ON YOUR PLATE
TO BAIT AND CAST A LINE
YOU CAN ALWAYS PUT THAT A RAINCHECK IN HIS HAND
‘TIL YOU CAN’T
YOU CAN KEEP PUTTIN’ OFF FOREVER
WITH THAT GIRL WHO’S HEART YOU HOLD
SWEARIN’ THAT YOU’LL ASK SOMEDAY
FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD
YOU CAN ALWAYS PUT A DIAMOND ON HER HAND
‘TIL YOU CAN’T
IF YOU GOT A CHANCE TAKE IT
TAKE IT WHILE YOU GOT A CHANCE
IF YOU GOT A DREAM CHASE IT
‘CAUSE A DREAM WON’T CHASE YOU BACK
IF YOU’RE GONNA LOVE SOMEBODY
HOLD ‘EM AS LONG AND AS STRONG AND AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN
‘TIL YOU CAN’T
THERE’S A BOX OF GREASY PARTS
SITTIN’ IN THE TRUNK OF THAT ‘65
STILL WAITIN’ ON YOU AND YOUR GRANDAD
TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE
YOU CAN ALWAYS GET AROUND
TO FIXIN’ UP THAT PONTIAC
‘TIL YOU CAN’T
SO TAKE THAT PHONE CALL FROM YOUR MAMA
AND JUST TALK AWAY
‘CAUSE YOU’LL NEVER KNOW HOW BAD YOU WANNA
‘TIL YOU CAN’T SOMEDAY
DON’T WAIT ON TOMORROW
‘CAUSE TOMORROW MAY NOT SHOW
SAY YOUR SORRY’S
YOUR I LOVE YOU’S
‘CAUSE MAN YOU NEVER KNOW
A former bull rider, country music artist Cody Johnson is a force to be reckoned with. Following the breakout success of his albums Cowboy Like Me and Gotta Be Me, backed by hits “Wild As You" and "With You I Am", Cody ups the ante with his new album Ain’t Nothin’ To It - his first project on the CoJo Music/Warner Music Nashville imprint. Featuring the country radio hit “On My Way To You”, Ain’t Nothin’ To It showcases his full range of talents, brandishing the no-nonsense attitude that Cody brings to his music and passionate, rowdy concerts, which include a sold-out performance in front of 74,177 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo - giving new fans a taste of what CoJo Nation, Cody’s diehard fan base, have known for years.

I first heard this song sitting in federal prison, a year after losing 2 aunt's 3 weeks apart from cancer. Knowing that I didn't have enough time in life to keep making bad choices, I gave my soul to God and devoted my life to taking the chances and doing right by my family and myself. Im now enrolled in college and chasing my dreams and spending as much time as possible with family.

True Story: I heard this song for the first time about two months ago. I was driving home from work and it hit me hard! Inspired me to pursue my dream of attending seminary and becoming a pastor. I have put off the Good Lord's calling for too long. Blessed to say I start my first semester at Dallas Thelogical Seminary in January. "If you got a dream, chase it!" Thank you, Cody Johnson! You have truly inspired this ole boy from South GA.

About 2 months ago something kept telling me to go surprised my mom 5 states away so I drove approx 30 miles in 2 days getting 4 hours sleep. My mom was so happy to see me. After being here 6 days she got very sick and was in the hospital, went to rehab facility, then back to the hospital and passed almost a month ago. This song is so true. I'm glad I took the chance coming here. I'm hurting bad now but I will never forget her face when I walked in.

my Mom had this song on repeat towards the end of her life it really meant alot to her. We didnt find out she had cancer until a month before she passed and i really wish i wouldve listened to the words you were saying before then because now one of the only ways im able to feel close to her again is to sit here and listen to the songs she loved. i have so many regrets i wish i wouldve went to see her more i lived with her until i was 24 (im almost 26 now) and spent every saturday with her but theres all this time i took for granted that I'll never get back. i spend every day wishing i could just rewind everything and actually be more present this time and do more things with her like help her make dinner when she asked me to or even offer to help her just to be able to spend more time with her. i miss my Mom more than anything

I'm sitting home alone on Christmas, I turn on the TV and it's a documentary about farming , veterans who were bold. I wrote a letter to Santa, I just want to farm again. I want to celebrate Christmas with my grandkids every year not just when it's convenient...so I played this song ....my son just doest know how scared I am to have open heart surgery , how my work related injury has changed my goal of farming ....so while tears roll down my face writing this...I'm gonna take my chances even if I have to make thise chances happen...with my job in question, my body in reconstruction but most of all my spirit heart and soul, I'm going to chase my dreams cause the dream won't chase me back. I lost my Mom to dementia a few months ago. I watched her slip away a little bit each day for 5 years. The part of the song about 'take that phone call from your mama because you'll never know how much you wanna 'til you can't some day' really hits me in the heart every time. Most of the people I have ever loved in this life are no longer with us. Tell the people who are special in your life that you love them every chance you get.

I heard this song for first time a little after losing my daddy this past September and I haven't made it through the song yet. Is truly a beautiful and more truthful than folks know. I had moved a couple hours away but came back because my daddy got sick. My dream came true, finally got it together to get that little place on the beach, my kids grown and happy and life was good. Two days later I got the call my daddy was sick. I moved back to help my mama care for him and got to spend almost 4 more years with him. No regrets, my family is mostly whole and safe, and I wouldn't take anything for that time. Heed those words, say your I love you's.

Greetings from Sydney down under, and thank you so much for lighting my path with this beautiful song in the most challenging time in my life. My mum is to leave this world soon unfortunately and Your lyrics gave me the strength to tell her how much I love her before she goes to meet with my dad again and for eternity. God bless you and your musicians Dear Cody, a warm hearted and sincere thank you to you all🙏.

I lost my brother 14 years ago and it feels just like if it was yesterday. If i could take the day he was taken from me and be the one to choose for him to not be called home, i would. I know he would be proud of me graduating from automotive school and lasting 9 months at my current job and finally me making my own repair shop legit with the state of n.y I am still chasing my dream of running my own shop and being my own boss. He is my guidance and my savior at times for being my guardian angel. I love and miss you Big Ben#55.

I just graduated from Parris Island yesterday. There was one Sunday during church at boot camp where they played this song. I'm not a big supporter of Jesus. Just went for the hell of it. But when they played this song, it really spoke to me. I was glad that it wasn't another religious song like the others they would normally play. This song let me know that I needed to keep going and just make it through boot camp. And to never yield. And low and behold, I graduated with the title of a United States Marine.

True story, I was driving home from work in my company truck, this song came on randomly and I just sat there listening to the words and it just put a spark back into me I lost. I served 5 years in the Marine Corps, got out back in Febuary, went to the Navy Reserves. While I was out I was a Deputy Sheriff, I loved the work but I didn't like the department. Moved to Alabama with my wife who was still pregnant. She gave birth to our son June 28th 2022, and I sat there and wanted my goal to happen. Being a firefighter and saving people's life and being their for my community. Yesterday I went to our volunteer firefighter department and applied and hoping for the best!

When my family lost him I realized I never got any photos of my children with him and it breaks my heart. Now i make it point to go and visit my mom at least once a month.

This is what real country music is about : it's true to life, heartfelt, and has a meaningful message. I like how he says that everyone should always appreciate family and make time for them while they are alive and around. Most of my family that cared about me and that I cared about are gone, so please, don't be self-involved and all about your own self-interests all the time and be there for your family members. There will come a day when you won't be able to. I appreciate ya, Cody Johnson.

So sorry for your loss...Not to compare or compete or any negative thoughts! I lost my mom at 10, then both cousins, uncle and grandma by 16, lost all four grandparents, and Father all by 24. Then lost my only brother and best friend, a year later. And just recently lost one of my other best friends/bros. I can tell you that Jesus is there at every turn. My loss does not compare, but loss all makes us feel the same and powerless!!! Faith in Christ empowers you with unshaken scientific evidence...Placebo effect proves faith can heal, Lazarus syndrome proves scientifically Jesus's Resurrection is not only possible but probable....Lastly the dinosaur deposits prove flood water along with other cultures having history of the flood. Do not be lead astray. Christ is real and God had mankind start time over in honor of his Only Begotten Son of God. In the year of the Lord Jesus Christ (2022), King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!! I hope this helps....🙏

Not my story but my dad's. He was driving down the coastal highway in California with my mom, something he always wanted to do and was doing since he had been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and when this song came on the radio he had to pull over and just cry because the emotions in the lyrics in the song hit him so hard, it became the song that exemplifies his bucket list. Now I am no fan of country, most of the time I hate it. But this song. This song hits me right in the chest every time. Great song no question, a song everyone should listen to at least once.

Sir, thank you for this beautiful and inspiring song. I lost my 13 year old brother suddenly at 18 & have been battling Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years now. So for me this song has multiple meanings. After losing him I realized time is the most valuable thing we have to give & receive. Love & time. My MS forced me face that head on. Never knowing when I’d lose the ability to do things I cherish. I pushed through for over 15 years before it finally crashed down on me. Ironically I still took so many things for granted or even complained about. Work, university, errands, housework.. all the daily grind things. I now desperately wish I could them again. I got so caught up I don’t realize how blessed I was to be able to do it until my body made it impossible. I also was so focused on getting things done for fear of that crash that I lost the joy in it. I pushed myself so much out of fear that it became my focus. To succeed. Im grateful I still remained focused on family and spending time with them but I regret not fully living in the moment. I regret the priorities I set as degrees & career. They mean nothing now. Its those moments with my 5 other younger siblings and family that I cherish and only wish I had done more. I wish I could work but only to make enough to support myself. What I really wish is that I could do everything for myself again and be the one helping them, spending time together and making memories. So to anyone reading this. Remember running out of time does not just mean losing someone but it means losing your ability to be there as well. At least for me. Please take time no matter what for those you love, time - its the greatest gift there is. Time with those you love. Be well & many blessings

Call upon Him while he is near." A few months before my son died, he called upon Jesus and was made new. God is saying the same to all of us till we can't. I'm Portuguese. I was living in Germany, and my company asked me if I wanted to work in Mexico. I said yes and went. I was single, 29 years old...I met a girl, I was completely in love, but the work in Mexico was about to end. I was wondering if I would take her to Germany, because I was afraid of staying in Mexico (it was on the border, and the violence was very high) last week of work , I was driving and for some reason I started listening to an American radio station, and this song was playing. I resigned the same day. We got married, and after a year living in Mexico, we moved to Houston. This is the song of my life.

You can't be there for everything. My father is an old man now. Do I wish we took more fishing trips and went camping more? Sure, but I still have him to be there with, even if he can't hike or get in the canoe anymore. I still have my baby of a son to look forward to going out camping, hiking, hunting and fishing with. Just because my old man couldn't get out there with me so much doesn't mean he didn't love me and makes me make sure my son will have me out there with him. Don't be upset about the times you didn't get, be happy for the ones you did.

Well 2 days before that first Christmas without her I got in a car accident totaling that first car of mine and the family car of 16 years. I only walked off with a few burns and cuts on my hand. I was fighting to have surgery for endometriosis and I finally took that chance to look somewhere where I was heard. I know she would've fought right next to me. 5 days after I had that surgery I got the same make and model except it was newer. I named my car "Chance" and I have our cheap cross necklace swinging in the rear view. I made promise to never trade in this car. It will forever be a project that I will hand down to my kids.

This song brings back of memories of my Mamma saying to me “love me, say you’re sorry, and live those dreams of yours while I’m still here so I can see it cuz I won’t always be here.” Mamma didn’t get to see that I was given an award from the Navy for designing one of their divisions a new logo. Was walked to the pier and was shown my art work on flags on six ships and I just fell to my knees and thanked her for her wisdom. Love you Mamma. I hope you’re proud of me from heaven ❤️❤️❤️

This came out shortly after my mom unexpectedly passed away. I’ve struggled with it in the past because it’s like someone giving you advice when you don’t need it and can’t use it and would make me angry at myself. There’s too much that was left unsaid and undone. But now I can embrace it and pass the message along to others. We’ve all heard the advice and we don’t take it to heart because “we have plenty of time”…until suddenly we don’t. And everything you needed to say echoes in your head the rest of your life…and you don’t want that.

I lost my mom around 15 years at the age of 15. She was 43 and died by cancer after one heavy year of fighting and all i can say is that this song is so true and beautiful, it touches me straight in my heart so please keep going Cody. Your music is a pleasure for the soul of humanity and to everybody out there which is dealing with a hard time, stay strong and feel free to feel weak somedays.. a wise men once said to me, if it doesn't hurt you it means only it was worthless, so if something hurt you that much that you think you can't stand it.. thats because it means so much to you.. more than you ever noticed.. sometime we sadly reconize that when its too late but to fail is alright.. only to make the same mistake again would be a shame! I didn't make that mistake since then again, so she can be at least proud about my shame. Sometimes death and hurt is the best teacher to get a better human. God is great and forgives us all if we don't stop believing! Never give up.. there is always a way through and is there no one so make one! God bless you all

This song just hits different.... In so many ways... I don't even need to explain. My dad passed when I was 10 years old. We were always distant. The night we got the call that he had killed himself... I was downstairs with a friend and we were having a sleepover. And the next day.... my mom told me... and now... years after... I just find what all I needed to say, and what I wish I would have done. Moral of the story, you never know what you have till its gone, so if you got something to say to someone... say it, till ya can't.

She was the awesomeness person you will ever meet. She was everybody’s friend. She never met a stranger. She was so talented and such a great hairstylist you would never ever be disappointed with her work. She cared so much about others and I miss her so much and I can’t stop listening to the song, you can’t because they’re relates me and my family and her even if she was ever on her bad days she would still smile and pretend to make other people feel happy. I miss her so much every night before I sleep I cry because of how much I miss her and it sucks to know that I’m never gonna see her again until it gets to my point, but I know that she is in a better place I was 13 when I lost her. 😢😢😢😢😭😭😔😔😔😔
