Thanks for the words Cody! I was experiencing the same negativity on my Tuesday morning practice. I felt like crap and couldn’t make the intervals. So I decided to go the following afternoon and make up for it (and I did). But following my body felt really drained. So I barely made Wednesday practice and decided to take a break on Thursday. On top of those practices everyone experiences I think that if you’re practicing really hard and your body feels run down, it’s also really important to give your body a day of rest.

Just did my first race in 4 years again (Just got back into swimming 3 months ago now). Got a big new personal record on the 50m breast. 30.96 (34.40 was my previous personal record), goal of this season is to get under the 30. You're videos are a good motivation to keep on training hard and to enjoy every painful session. Keep up the great work Cody!

Hey Cody I just got done writing this essay and i think you would like it Here it is. One time I was at swim practice, and my coach Todd, gave us a two hour long set that was very difficult. I do not remember specifics of the set because it was so long, but I do remember that it was one of the most grueling sets I have ever done. The way to tackle overwhelming projects is to break the project into smaller pieces, and to have a positive attitude. In order to prepare for a set like that you first Need to look at why you are there, and break the project into smaller pieces if needed. And with the set that he gave us he didn’t just tell us that we are going to swim 9,000 meters, he breaks the set up into smaller parts, as small as 25 meters, and up to 3,000 meters, with specific instructions for how and what to swim each part. Henry Ford once said and I quote.” Nothing is particularly hard if you split it up into small jobs” and of quote. Also, Jon Wanamaker said “ One can walk up a mountain one step at a time.” If you try to do a year worth of swim sets all at the same time it would be impossible. However doing them daily or in pieces Then it is possible. When you are swimming with a lot of other people, you need to keep a good attitude while swimming. If you are grumpy during swim, you can single handedly kill the entire motivation and mood of your lane. When that happens, it can spread to the other lanes, and then your coach might get mad. Several grumpy people feed off each other, then your practice is completely obliterated, and not very effective. Sometimes when I am at the pool by myself, I need to get myself motivated, because I do not have other people helping me, and visa versa. During a hard set we swimmers have a tendency to say, this set is way too hard, or, I don’t want to do this anymore. A wise swimmer by the name of Cody Miller said. “The only way to gat through is just to smile.” Having a good attitude actually makes a task easier to accomplish. From now on if you are tempted to think the set is to hard, or you don’t like the coach, or just having a tough time at school you can always come to swim and know that you can have a good time.

This is just what I needed!!! I woke up and I didn't wanted to go swimming, and this popped out and now I am a little bit better By the way, I want to ask for advice to you all. I am a flyer, and I am 15 years old. Our team went o a 2 weeks vacation (still going to the gym) and when we came back I felt, and keep feeling, that my butterfly is waaay worse. I mean, for the first week I thought it is normal, but we are finishing week 3 and I feel the same way. Plus, I am training with the freestyle group because we have a good free relay for the nationals, but I don't want to sacrifice my best stroke for that relay. Should I talk with my couch and ask him to train with the butterfly group a couple times a week, or just keep training freestyle and see what happens?
