Thank you for speaking out about these issues. I can't believe how we, as young women, were never taught enough about perimenopause and menopause side effects and how difficult hormone imbalance can be. It's always such a taboo subject and it happens to every woman. It's so good to feel we're not alone and we can get help! We don't have to suffer and it's so important to search for the right doctor who is well educated in menopause health. I can totally sympathise as I'm in the middle of it all too. Let's stick together and talk about these issues more often. So good to see you both back xx

Thank you for talking about mental health and depression. It is liberating to bring mental health issues to the light. I really relate.. all of the brilliance of a great catch up over a cup of tea. Both of you are so beautiful AND for sharing your health stories! I'm about to graduate as a qualified Nutritionist specialising in women's health over 40 and I am just loving the vulnerability and beauty of your conversation!

It is so good to talk about women’s health. I was going through the menopause , didn’t know much about it. Had lots of symptoms bloating and a swollen stomach , loss of appetite. Then found out I had ovarian cancer as well as the change. If I had been more informed I would of known that these were the symptoms. I was operated on and my life was saved , so we all should make ourselves more aware of these things. I don’t mean to scare people but we must talk more. Take care x

So glad you are feeling better Rachel. I suffered from severe postpartum depression after my twins were born. It likes to sneak back into my brain every once in a while. So great that you are talking about it and normalizing talking about it.

Trousers with pockets in various fabrics are something I'd like. Also, I like the idea of mini videos on e.g. inserting pockets; buttonholes, lining trousers. It's good that you both are speaking about issues we have as we grow older. I'm in my mid-sixties now and openly talk about menopause to any younger person who asks. Male or female. The changes just seem to go on forever and ever. Every month or so there was something new. Thanks ladies.

Maybe classes on how to sew with different fabrics would be interesting and informative. Thank you for being so open on the health issues you are both having. I'm sure you are helping many people. My daughter has suffered from depression for many years. She decided for her 43rd birthday this week instead of gifts she would like the money donated to mental health programs. I am very fortunate that I had very few issues going into, during, and after menopause. For me the most frustrating symptoms were the hot flashes and the night sweats. As someone who tends to run on the cold side it was very uncomfortable. Lola will eventually grow out of chewing up stuff. Someone was told me 3 years bad dog, 3 years good dog, 3 years old dog. My older dog is now 12 and I think he is in the stubborn old dog phase. I would love to see all your summer makes. I have had everything to make a boiler suit since last fall but was hoping to lose 10 lbs. before making it but that hasn't happened. I think I might just as well go ahead and make it.

HRT is a life changer. I went to a naturopath for the first time in my life (after poo-poohing it as all witch-doctoring) but was recommended by another friend and the explanation of what is happening to our hormones during our 40s and 50s was a complete eye-opener. I never heard any of this information, even from my female GP, and I’m now on bio-identical hormones after far too many years on synthetic hormones. Every woman should have that choice, but again, we should also have access to informed choices when it comes to our own health. So happy to see you both again!

Welcome back girls. Bless you for being so open about your health issues. I am sure you will have helped a lot of others by talking about these things. Rachel, for the first time in my life I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression ( I am 70) my doctor said it is caused by my chronic pain, so your Endometriosis could be to blame. Have a read , or look at KZfaq about Vagus nerve.

Lovely to see you both and thank you for your openness about your mental health and health issues,, so glad you are both feeling better. As I live in New Zealand I would still love to see your summer makes 😀. Re classes, I’m personally more interested in detailed construction classes and either the trousers or coat one (for me probably the coat one most - I don’t think any other brand has a detailed coat making course) would be very helpful, I would probably purchase both courses as things like fly zips, welt pockets, notched collars, lining rear coat vents - all this stuff is in my “scary” group of sewing techniques!! However, if you don’t get a clear indication from your audience, maybe you both just do whatever course you would enjoy doing most, especially given the tough previous year!

Wonderful to have you back! It is good to talk about women's health issues, because sometimes you feel so alone in that situation. Hi Nikki, I had the same symptoms as you with the nausea and heat. For me, the nausea came about 15 seconds before the heat. I found that if I could catch it in that small timeframe and get some ice or ice water into me, it greatly reduced both symptoms. I hope this bit of info about my experience helps you. Even if it only let's you know you're not alone! Keep up the great work. You ladies are inspirational, and thank you for talking about very important topics. Lisa 💜

So lovely to see both back on our screens, and both looking great, loving the blonde Rachel. I'm a huge fan of Dr Louise Newson, her website is an absolute mine of evidence based research. Her new book, Preparing for the Perimenopause and Menopause is a book I think every woman should have. If I'd realised what was happening to me in my mid forties I would have insisted on HRT then. 20 years down the line and still having symptoms, I'm now on it and things are so much better. It can take a bit of tweaking to get the dosage right for you, but stick with it, it's well worth it. Loving the ideas for new classes and content, great to have you back X

Sending love and best wishes to you both. Well done for seeking help and well done for sharing your experiences. Menopausal challenges and mental health need a great deal of airtime so that nobody feels alone with their problems. Nikki - I had exactly the same conversation with my close friends who literally pushed me through the doctor’s doors! I am glad to report that Mirena coil + oestrogen gel has stopped most symptoms. And Rachel - when the sky turns black, I know it’s time to do some yoga, walk the dogs and take my supplements. I really hope you can get some treatment for the endometriosis, if possible. No wonder you have been suffering mentally - hard not to when you are in physical pain. Good luck with it all. And a few short classes on gifts, particularly bag making, would be great. I do like the sound of the Coat Class too though! Thank you for your lovely video xxx

Love your hair Rachel. I definitely get a punk Marilyn❤️ Glad you’re getting help needed for your mental health Rachel❤️ thanks for sharing your struggles with endo and menopause. I’m in both camps. Your help with endo treatment a few months ago was so helpful Rachel, so thanks. Nikki, I’m glad you’re going for HRT. I’ve been on the HRT gel for 4 months now and starting to feel the benefits, although it can and has made my endo worse at times but starting to calm down now. I still get the dizziness, which can be quite frightening - eh? Sorry for going on but I so resonate with you both! Anyway, back to sewing and I’d love the trousers class and then coats - lots of detail as I feel I learn so much from you both. A crossbody bag with lots of zips would be good too. Wonderful to see you two beautiful blondes!! I live in Georgia, US for now but going to visit my daughter in NYC for Christmas holidays. I will be moving back to NYC next year so looking at my stash and after 10 years there are very few real winter fabrics. So, I had to buy some more wintery fabrics. Poor me! Ha ha. Making lots of straight legged pants, blouses and knit cardigans. Looking forward to seeing what you sewed for summer and plans for fall/winter sewing. Thank you for discussing women’s health, especially mental health issues and how to get help. BTW, I had the patch for a while but every time I took a shower it went down the drain. 🤦‍♀️ I had to switch to pills. Sewing with various fabrics would be great! Thanks!!

Great to see you both back! Thanks for the candid talk about menopause. I am out the other side but started very early, age 44 and had a tough time and did not recognize the systems for what they were until after the fact. I wish I had someone to talk about it with. I hope your words help others along the way.Looking forward to any of the classes you propose but I think I could use a pants class. I think I will try your sleeve class soon. Thanks again and wishing you both the very best! - Jenn

thanks for the peri/menopause chat, its really important that we talk about the changes that happen to us women. especially when our bodies change in shape (and we don't just want to wear slouchy clothes, however comfortable they are), so your idea for a trouser making class, that does cover such adjustments, would be great.

Great to see you both! Glad your feeling better. I like the idea of trousers class. I think there is a lot of videos for short projects but I don’t see detailed classes on trousers, outerwear etc. Peace

Wonderful to see you lovely ladies again and thank you for all your honest open talk. Much appreciated. Stay well. For the classes I would love the trouser fitting and making class and then the coat one after that. I have your FBA and shirt making classes (and a couple more) and they are amazing. I’m in a trouser fitting mission nowadays (new puppy in our house makes trousers a hell of a lot more practical than dresses and skirts!). I’m getting better with working out my specific fit issues but would love some extra hand holding from you two as you are superb.

Hello gurls, it's so nice to see you back. Sometimes I feel like we must be twins, separeted at birth. Mental health issues an HRT happened to me too at the last months. According to your suggestions a class about sewing trousers and fitting issues is appealing most to me. Menopause changed my body and proportions a lot, that all my skills for fitting doesn't work out any longer. An online class about how to style to hide a tummy or waving upper arm would also be very welcomed. ❤❤❤

Such important subjects you have talked about which many of us don’t talk about enough or just confused of what to do. The Davina program is very good I’m glad I watched it before talking about my options to my surgery as they weren’t very helpful depending who you talk too. Thank you for sharing your sewing and life journey with us x

Great to see you both. I would love to see your summer makes as we are going into summer in Aust. At the moment I can’t sew as I have injured my hand and elbow so all I can do is watch KZfaq and hope I will be on the mend after op tomorrow.

I think with the pandemic, there are probably people out there who are suffering BUT, they are feeling, 'well, it's just the pandemic!' I'm not saying that it wasn't the pandemic but I think no one should ignore how they are feeling by fooling themselves that it's the pandemic - good to hear that you got help and are feeling better!

Both kinds!!!! So happy to hear you are both doing well! Mental health is so important. I myself have anxiety. It sneaks up on you. Being a mom and a wife we tend to pet ourselves last way too often. Leaving things and taking care of myself is a struggle for sure. I have missed your smiling beautiful faces :) lots of love ❤️❤️❤️

Lovely to see you both and the girlie chat, mental health and the menopause are both subjects that can be and are difficult topics to chat about, thank you for honesty. Classes I would like a mixture of both sometimes it’s nice to have small projects in between larger projects. Love to you both xx

I am envious of your relationship. It must be wonderful to have a sewing buddy and a friend to share things with. I would be interested in a flat making class but also shorter classes also sound like fun. Also perhaps a class tackling the techniques for making a garment for someone other than oneself. I feel quite confident making my own clothes but feel scared of sewing clothes for someone else, particularly fitting a garment to their body shape. Looking forward to your next video. X

It's lovely to see you both back.Im so glad you've mentioned how you've been feeling and the way you've tackled it.I'm disabled and on a lot of medication so I can function,as best as I can.Its best to check with your GP , especially if your on medication, before taking any supplements .Although they are natural they can interact badly with medication and even with each other.Your pharmacy can help, please don't just listen to your health shops(I've been using health shops since the 70's,so am not against them) as your pharmacy or doctor has medical training. I'd love to see everything you've been making, whether it's suitable for summer or not.Rachel,I love your hair Nikki has done a brilliant job.Rachel, have you had to re-think your wardrobe because of such a drastic colour change?

Good for you speaking honestly about mental health. It truly is an epidemic that is often hidden or over looked. Some people think you can "snap out of it" but if you suffer with a mental illness you do need professional help.
