While I’d never forsake even my legacy Gaggia Classic for this, it’s really nice to see a budget option that is more acceptable in terms of performance and quality of shots than some of the stuff my friends have asked me about. Thanks for the video, I didn't even realize about the steam wand! So great. I can not for the life of me find the proper portafilter you reference. When I bought my machine there was no option to bundle. I had been regretting buying this when I did, wish I had waited and saved for something better... anyways your video made me feel better about the purchase. Hello! I was recently gifted this machine and am looking for a standard portafilter but having trouble figuring out what is compatible. Is there a specific type I should be looking for?

Regarding the Edesia pressurized portafilter you used here on the Edesia web site it says: "You may also need to reduce the pressure of the water coming out of the brew group. Doing nothing may lead to a very quick extraction with the resulting espresso having little or no creama." Not something you did, so is it a case of tweaking the coffee grind until you are happy with the espresso you get with the pressurized portafilter, and then (as per your face regarding the second shot) its a "decent enough" shot and that's the best you can hope to get from this machine. Is the quote from Edesia there just more generic to cover themselves a little bit?

I am torn between buying this or the new espresso as I know you've been very impressed by it. Is there much difference between the two, would you say the extra £100 for the carezza is worth it?

@Coffee Kev, will you do a review on the grinder (Gaggia MD15) as well? I have it for a year, did the shim mod as you advised & really love to hear your thoughts on it.

Hello, have you ever tried flushing it? The manual says cleaning AN EASY PROCEDURE? I put in fluid then followed as instructed. The red light remained on. I went thru' the procedure for a 2nd time. this time half way thru' the red light went out and the white light flashed on/off about halfway thru the procedure. However as I continued it went out and the red light came on again. After procedure completed the 2nd time red light is on all the time as when I started. It is far too complicated for words. I will never buy a Gaggia again.

posting a question here that others may appreciate the answer to if they are like me! Looking at the pressurized portafilter that comes with the machine can you advise about pulling a single shot. I am not sure if you should put the 7g of ground coffee for a single shot in the double basket or the single basket (with the rubber seal). The single basket appears to be only for an ESE, and I have seen the bigger basket referred to as a 1-2 cup basket. So I am unclear which way to go for pulling a single shot. If you go by the limited instructions in the manual (pictures) you would use the single basket just for ESE and the big basket for single or double espresso. thanks in advance.

When I bought my Carezza deluxe a couple of years ago i though it was supposed to have a better portafilter handle included but to my disappointment didn’t. The standard machine was £50 less which might of been the more frugal option as the temperature dial looks cheap and isn’t needed, the steam wand I use without the panarello tube and both have the same crap handles. Still like your review shows, for the money it’s not a bad machine and capable of great coffees. I use a Sage pro grinder with it that you supplied the discount code for along with Black Fridays Sage sale so got it for £140. I’m sure my Carreza was only £250 back then so proper bargain set up round mine especially with your Chocolate Brownie blend in the mix. Previous machine was a 2002 Classic. Wish Ild serviced it instead but hey ho

Do you have a link for a standard portafilter that would fit it? I cannot find the bundle and want to have the option to use a standard filter.

I can't make out if it has a built in tamper? Also how far to push coffee holder to right, any idea. I bought 1 of the bottomless filters but coffee went all over the place so I sent it back. I notice Gaggia don't sell 1?

Excellent video, I have a De'Longhi La Specialista and having seen your review of it on this channel I was disappointed to find out it was pressurized basket, then seeing this made me think, is it possible to replace the portafilter on the delonghi machine? I feel like I wasted 600 quid so any advice would be great, thanks Kev great channel (just wish I had found you sooner)

Hello again, I now have a bottomless filter. Have you any tips to stop it getting all over the machine and holder & should I tamp? Also I notice the spring return on the holder does not function with it?

Did you remove the pressurized filter and use the depressurized two-cup filter? and did you get that coffee? impossible without changing OPV Only with fine grinding? You will only get decent coffee by lowering the pressure.

I'm looking at the bundle for this with your offer code, which comes to £299 all in with the proper portafilter and grinder. I was also considering the Sage Barista Express which is £407 (again with your code). I currently have a La Pavoni Domus Bar, which is 10 years old and we've been ticking along with it all these years without paying much attention to properly dialing in, etc and I've become a tad disillusioned with it and frustrated that I can't seem to get the best out of it. I'd appreciate if you could advise whether I should keep working at getting the best out of my La Pavoni, or should I step up to one of the above. Many thanks!
