Interview with the band Coil from a UK documentary "Bad Behaviour" about the nature of evil (part of the "Hello Culture" series) presented by Matthew Collings in 2001. A better quality version.

@@anarchoautism Much as I love them - Coil have been a lifelong inspiration - & much as I continue to lament Jhon & Sleazy's departure, it has to be said that the guys could talk a fair bit of nonsense. "My body is a Temple" - dedicated to whom, exactly? Oneself? Erm, no thanks, you can keep your sanctified shit to yourselves, gentlemen! Coil viewed Christianity as a very repressive religion - being gay and pagan, they bore the brunt of a lot of ideological intolerance. Yes, Thomas, to argue that Christianity denies personal responsibility is a huge sweeping generalisation. There are many fine people, committed to a fair society for all, who see Jesus as the divine embodiment of kindness and love. I respect that. No question. Coil objected, quite rightly in my humble opinion, to the personal abnegation of responsibility in the name of Christ, where individual feelings become subsumed into yet another excuse for hatred/intolerance because of ideological attachment (without question) to The Good Book. What William Burroughs identified as Worship of the Slave Gods...Now, Crowley, he was a character! Possibly the greatest (most flamboyant, scholarly, deluded and frequently manipulative) rebel of the 20th Century. He deserves a bit of attention! Anyway, shit aside, RIP Coil.

This interviewer is taking the piss big time! “They’re bodies are sacred and they would never abuse them!!” He does of course (I assume)know about Jhonn’s alcohol abuse?! And poor Peter never got over this, at least they are (I hope) happy together now!!!!!

The tortured artist trope - or the visionary artist trope - just looks very tired now. Experimenting with drugs to achieve extreme states of consciousness is very dangerous, as Balance found. In the last videos of him he looks haunted and lost. His body obviously wasn't sacred to him otherwise he wouldn't have ingested huge amounts of drugs which led to alcohol dependency. Life isn't art. Destroying yourself isn't enjoying yourself.

That is just your opinion. People who think like you end up being drones... Jhonn did more than 99.999% of humans can ever even dream of. People who live like you are the ones who don't create/invent anything, and just live enjoying the creations of people like Jhonn. Also you obviously have zero understanding about drugs. You probably ever had alcohol in your life? Jhonn and his life were and still are art. Go be "safe" somewhere else.
