video demonstration of producing 3 ply coir rope from coir fiber, here coir fiber feeding is done by manually and coir rope is produced by machine automatically. power required is 1 HP, 3 phase or single phase and each bobbin holds around 5 Kilograms and production capacity is 50 Kgs per 8 hour shift.

This man is a valuable asset to this company. If I owned this company I would try and find a way to increase his pay. With people like this man, a company can only become stronger and larger and more of a competitor for international competition. Machines are wonderful. But without people like this gentleman, the machine is nothing. He made this video worth watching thank you all.

It would be wonderful if you opened up the covering over the area between the flat spread bed and the three “V” grooves so we can understand how the fibers are divided. Also, the shiny filament, is that nylon? I have never seen rope with a such a core. What is the brand so I can locate it for purchase?

Interesting video. One suggestion: The strand and the rope are both twisted in the same direction -- S-twisted. Consider altering your process to use counter-twisting, i.e. S-twist on strand, Z-twist on rope, or vice-versa -- so as to make your rope stronger and more durable. BTW: What is that counter-weight attached to the rope and over the fly-wheel doing at the output end of the machine? Just reducing vibrations? Isn't there a smarter way of doing this? You could save some electricity. At least use something with less friction than a coir rope! If you move that last idler feeding the spool about 2" northwards, you could eliminate the chafing, get better rope and save electricity as well.

The coiler and the spool spin together? How does that result in anything? I can see that it appears to be working... but that doesn't make any sense. Either the spool or the coiler should hold still while the other spins...
@RobertSzasz

lekoman looks like the core is braked by the pully at the end of the machine so it spins slower than the coiler. Not needing exact feed rates makes the machine much much simpler.

The rope I made by hand from 3 twines 45 years ago looked better than this. Made a little 3 station crank that twisted each strand the opposite direction as the main twist and it worked great.
@robinswamidasan
@robinswamidasan 5 жыл бұрын
I don't know about looks -- after all you started with twine. These folks are starting from raw, natural coir (just washed and dried, basically). But you (inadvertently?) make an important point: Counter-twisting will add strength and durability to the rope. If one looks carefully ~ @1:05, @4:45, @17:02 and many other places, one can see that both the yarn and the rope are S-twisted. Maybe Manjunath Shayer will see this and pass on this recommendation to the proprietor (which may be himself).

Thats because so many breakdowns and shutdowns occurred that they only managed to spin off maybe 100' in a 20 minute video. At that rate that machine will be repossessed inside of 6 months. I work on a fishing boat and visit cordage companies for new ropes and they spin up spools that tiny size ten at a time in 30 seconds.
