This type music are called sufi songs. Abida Parveen is queen of sufi music. They both belong to famous generational musical families. Hours of daily training from a tender age brought them to this level. You can react to "Rang" by Rahat Fateh Ali & Amjad Sabri for similar music. Amjad Sabri also a legend and belongs to musical family.

Pro Tip - Make sure you turn on the subtitles for all coke studio songs. You're missing out on like half the song, the lyrics are just beautiful and give the songs a lot of meaning and depth. Next suggestion from coke studio - 1) Tajdar-e-haram 2) Allahu Akbar 3) Afreen Afreen 4) Rang

Welcome to the world of Pakistani music scene, these are some of the most revered singers of Pakistan with alot talent and experience. This genre is called Sufi music which is very popular in Pakistan and close to spirituality its sister genre is Qawali which Rahat is expert for and he is nephew of Qawali King Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (late) who is probably the best singer ever lived and immensely loved in the region a true Pakistan legend. Abida is Queen of Sufi music and unmatched withe enotions she delivers via her music gives me goose bumps everytime, She is of Sufi Music what Nusrat wa for Qawali. Absolute legends. BTW this is Coke Studio Pakistan the original Coke Studio and it is on another level unmatched in its production and music quality all other Coke Studio are adopted on its model as it is where Coke Studio started in Pakistan by musical genius Rohail Hayat. cheers. Did this music didnt exist before 1947? Call them Pakistani singers...but the music cannot be attributed to Pakistan..cuz sufism prevailed and evolved in India.... 🙏🏼‼️‼️ It's not the product ofSunni Islam of Pakistan ‼️🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@aliansari709 I agree that bringing up India in these comments is annoying and not asked for but to absolve this song of its Indian roots is dishonest- Sufi music is followed in India very closely as well - a line between two countries doesn’t mean anything in this case - it’s not like the culture is 100% different lol. I mean even NFAKs ancestors are from Jalandhar in India. And more importantly this song was written by Amir Khusro, a singer who was from the Delhi Sultanate in the Indian subcontinent -was Amir Khusro Pakistani? Or Indian? These identities didn’t exist then. I would think this song belongs equally to Pakistan and to India in that sense - since the history of this song is shared across the border. This song speaks love between a Hindu and a Muslim. Both countries have an identity crisis clearly when it comes to the culture. I understand your frustration but this song is not owned by a nationality - it belongs to a civilization.

@@nainar1431 I don’t think people have time to go back in the history for few min song. Why people would research about ancestors and roots? Even Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan ancestors were from India, it doesn’t matter because he was born in Pakistan. Why there are not any qawal India? And are you taking me back in the history for roots and identity crisis😂 It’s just the song. Moreover, Amir kussro wrote many things before Indian and Pakistan gained independence. But Pakistani singers are still keeping the name of Amir kussro and Sufi music alive even today. Because 80% singers from India sings for Bollywood. And Bollywood music is base on love songs and dance songs. I didn’t see any Indian singers focusing on Sufi music, pop, Gazal, Punjabi, folk and Sindhi music. I do not think there is any identity crisis lol. It’s just the song. And anything that’s made in Pakistan, it’s Pakistani . And anything that’s made in India, it should be call Indian. Even though, we are from the same subcontinent.

One of the most important thing to know is that this video was recorded while they were rehearsaling and checking sound. The practice was so perfect that coke studio decided to record it this way

The song was written in the 13th century. Still a popular hit 800 years later regardless of singer. This, of course, is an outstanding version. If you want a great understanding of the what goes on in subcontinent singing, watch some of Anuja Kamad series - especially "what is a range?" She illustrates it beautifully because she is am awesome singer too

This is a beautiful song written by the Sufi Amir Khusro from the Delhi Sultanate in the Indian subcontinent in the 14th Century. While the heritage of this song is shared between india and Pakistan; I find that today’s Pakistani singers are still in touch with the folk and classical Sufi traditions and so they sing it beautifully - however Bollywood just ruins it.
