@@poetinventor I think it is just an abbreviation of the United States of America. Similar to how the Estados Unidos Mexicanos is called Mexico. The United States is called America, even though it is also the name of the continent. Also, sometimes "United States" sounds awkward in English, so they say "America." Creo que es solo un abreviatura de los Estado Unidos de América. Similar a cómo los Estados Unidos Mexicanos se llama México. Estados Unidos se llama América, a pesar de que también es el nombre del continente. Además, "United States" suena extraño o torpe en inglés a veces, así que dicen America. (lo siento si mi español no es perfecto)
