I had a lot of fun doing these with Rad Dyes Tie Dye Company, Kelly and Scott Walker, during the livestream. I’m working on making the reveal video. All 4 shirts we did look SO different. I learned a lot during the live. So, I’ve done three now total. I think they are a lot of fun with beautiful results and I’ll definitely make more. Jason, yours look beautiful, you achieved such beautiful flows. Thanks for sharing. ❤️🌈

Thanks Steph! Yea, seeing that livestream made me finally go out and buy a couple colanders for dyeing. I’ll definitely be doing more of these off camera for my tie dye booth. Feel free to use any of my colander dyes that I’ve posted as an example of a DUI result if you’d like. The three I posted in the group were all done using this method.

Nice tip about not making tight spirals, that’s what I was doing. It’s amazing how different the two shirts Came out

This is beautiful! It has so much dimension. Thanks for showing your first attempt as well. Very interesting to see how they turned out so differently.

They sure are fun to make! Best part is that it’s one of the easiest designs to do. I might just go crank out another one for the heck of it.

I love this effect! May I ask if the shirt was damp; i.e. soaked in soda ash and spun first? Thanks so much!

Yes it was. Sorry, I forgot to mention that in the beginning. That’s how I do all my shirts.

Love it! I wonder, perhaps the difference between 1st & 2nd shirts came about from the order in which you placed the dyes on the shirt? The mystic blue maybe went on first on the first shirt, so was closer to the blank fabric (at the transition points I mean)? I love the way these have the feathery effect is beautiful, seems like the variance from the colander dying produces a greater depth than standard, or would that be the ice melt?
@SledgehammerTieDyes Жыл бұрын
I don’t think the dye placement order changed anything. It’s just how gravity dyes can be. It’s part of why I love doing them! As far as the color variances, it’s because of both combined.
