As a Filipino, I thank the Clooneys for recognizing Maria Ressa's courage. This unassuming, diminutive woman is fighting the full might of government and her only weapon, it seems, is her faith that the truth will somehow ultimately prevail and that the justice system will, in the end, truly stand for justice.

Thank you, Mr. Colbert, for letting Mr. Clooney answer your questions. During his interview on CBS Mornings this week, Ms.King, who I love but must have been star-struck, interrupted every answer so we learned nothing that Mr. Clooney was trying to tell us. Maria Ressa is an amazing woman, and the Albee Awards are SO important. Thank you Clooney Foundation!

Deep Respect & admiration to undeniably deserving & courageous Maria Ressa who was awarded the first Albie Sachs Award established by the Clooney Foundation. If all students of law or general public want to grasp why Albie is worthy to be rolemodel & what Justice is about, please read Albie Sachs book. Stange Alchemy of Life & Law. Thank you Clooneys. You expect journalists to be having a hard time in places ruled by authoritarians wanting to hide their crimes in darkness. Imagine journalists being called "the enemy of the people" routinely and repeatedly by an American politician (a man steeped in corruption and crime, of course)? A new low.

Stop voting for the people who are poisoning the system! Trump's goons did/are doing a lot of damage to the justice system and he was elected fair and square in 2016 on the back of those who voted for him en masse and the complacency of those who didn't vote at all. The US doesn't need the Clooney Foundation, they need engaged and informed voters.

@@pamelacass9642 Here is how the political system is structured in Mexico. And yes, I realize its execution is far from perfect, but if the US had the same laws, it wouldn't be in the situation in now finds itself. 1. Judges are selcted by a judicial review board based on objective criteria. 2. Supreme court justices have a 15 year term limit. 3. All citizens are registered to vote at 18 4. It kind of takes a kapitalist system, where all of the abstraction of wealth gets really concentrated to even have philantropists. So it´s great and all, but it also endorses a system that is just wrong. It just means, you have a brain and a conscience in spite of breathing kapitalism. Which is better than no brain and no conscience, of course. But it´s sad that we need a word for that, because it is something noteworthy and so exceptional.. I feel it is something some people gravitate towards after finally overcoming some of their anxiety about money and seeing some of how unreasonable they have been.
