Ben knocking the cup off the table, Stephen getting him a new cup, Ben knocking THAT cup off the table, then him grabbing the now broken cup from behind and trying to grab its now broken off handle was just perfect physical comedy the entire way through

At the start of this clip, Stephen has a manic glee in his eyes. It was only when they went into the catchphrase part that I realized he was so excited because he knew he was going to get to tap into his improv roots with Ben soon!

It's little but I love how Ben refers to Colleen O'Shaughnessey (Tails' voice actress) as just "Colleen", when most likely a handful of people in the audience knew who that was. She's not a mainstream name like he or Idris, but Ben's been super supportive of her since the day she was announced to reprise her role and has shown over the months leading up to the movie how much respect he has for her and probably voice actors as a whole (which makes sense given his history in VO). Idk I just thought it was cool, and the fact that she's seemingly gonna get top billing in the movie which isn't usually something voice actors for major movies get is dope as well

He mentions her so many times that it warms my heart to see Colleen O'Shaughnessey recognized with all these a-list actors. Ben is really cool and proves why he's one of the best sonic we've seen.

As much as I think Ben is a class act, I still can't help but feel that he was miscast to play Sonic. He just doesn't capture Sonic's youthful nature to me.

@@StriderZessei Personally for me, since Sonic is 12 in the first movie and probably no older than 13 in the second, I think it fits really well. While he's still sarcastic and quippy, this time he's an actual child so there's a sense of innocence and childish excitement other versions of Sonic don't have, and I don't think Roger Craig Smith's voice would fit this specific version of the character

@@grumblycurmudgeon This wasn't just an interview, it was improv. Improv has a chaotic nature that can produce some of the funniest moments, but also some duds here or there. I love Colbert for his interview skills but it was super fun to watch a fantastic improviser keep him on his toes.

I truly believe that Ben Schwartz is this generation's Robin Williams, r.i.p. He's got a character for everything and is a character himself, constantly doing improv in normal conversations, getting along with everyone, and their energy just runs the room. Ben is an amazing comedian and amazing person, and only has uphill to go from here

Ben's energy is so infectious that it usually takes whoever is interviewing along for a ride; I rarely see an interaction with him NOT go off the rails, and I love that. If you haven't watched them: look up the Polygon interviews with Patrick Gill, just insanity

It was a crazy Rollercoaster. I actually think he was so in Colbert's face from the get go (I'm sure Ben was ecstatic to spar with a role model) , it threw Steven's vibe off because his show is so cookie cutter predictable now. Eventually you could see a moment when Stephen remembered it was all about the fun though and it ended up fantastically funny. I lost it at the broken handle mug gesture.

Ben is doing the mental trick with Tails to help Stephen get it right. Keeps emphasizing the 'T' sound in the sentences leading up to Stephen answering. Clever for a good interview and very kind to try to make Stephen look good.
