I honestly believe that Viggo is the real-life, modern-day representation of what Aragorn would be: off the grid, not modern, very humble and brilliant. I feel as though besides his amazing acting skills, the casting directors and Peter Jackson picked up on that immediately- this man is literally our Aragorn.

I wouldn't say he is ignorant. Climate change wasn't a question in the debates. Yes, their are worlds of difference between Trump and Clinton on the issue, but he is entitled to vote for he wishes. Jill Stein, much as I think she has serious flaws - especially her embrace of antisemitic movements and unrealistic foreign policy, is still a legitimate choice in the elections.

America should get used to voting for 3rd party candidates. The two party system can be easily corrupted. The more the options of candidates the harder to corrupt all of them. Even if not this time, just an increasing trend towards different candidates can be wake up call for the establishment.

Though on many economic issues there is nothing wrong with Jill Stein and her New Green Deal. But her entire stance on Russia and China is scary as fuck. And if we look at the world today, electing Jill Stein would've made a much worse president than Trump. Also it's probably thanks to her that Hillary didn't get elected. When we look into her relations with Russia, it's not to crazy to think that she did and said exactly what Russia wanted. Get Trump elected... When asked whether she agreed with Ajamu Baraka's description of NATO as "gangster states", Stein answered that she would not use Baraka's language but that "he means the same thing I'm saying". Yes the gangster states like Estonia, Denmark, Norway and Luxemburg... The happiest, richest countries with the best social security in the world... Oh the misery Stein has argued that the United States "helped foment" a coup in Ukraine, maintaining that Ukraine should be neutral and that the United States should not arm it.[132] She was critical of the Ukrainian government formed after the Revolution of Dignity, saying that "ultra-nationalists and ex-Nazis came to power."[135] She met with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow in December 2015 at a banquet to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Russian state television network RT. While in Russia, Stein criticized U.S. foreign policy. Stein does not think the U.S should become involved in territorial disputes in the South China Sea.[132] Immediately after the UK voted to leave the European Union in June 2016, Stein posted a celebratory statement on her website, saying the vote was "a victory for those who believe in the right of self-determination and who reject the pro-corporate, austerity policies of the political elites in the EU ... [and] a rejection of the European political elite and their contempt for ordinary people." After the death of Cuban former communist leader Fidel Castro, Stein tweeted that "Fidel Castro was a symbol of the struggle for justice in the shadow of empire." Asked by The Washington Post whether she agreed with Ajamu Baraka's characterization of President Obama as an "Uncle Tom", Stein replied that it would be better to ask Baraka about his choice of words, but added that he "was speaking to a demographic that feels pretty locked out of the American power structure." Jill Stein is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

If all the people who said they liked what Ron Paul stood for - but did not vote for him because 'he could never win' had gotten off their elephants and donkeys and actually voted for the guy, we would have had a president with INTEGRITY. A President who conducted himself under the rules and limitations of the Constitution, instead of grabbing increasing amounts of power... a President who believed that EVERYONE is EQUAL under the law... a President who would not bow to the rich, the powerful, or corporations... a President who would have relied on diplomacy, not aggression toward other nations... If only I could move to the parallel universe where Ron Paul won the election, and Firefly was not cancelled.

@coltrane8802
@coltrane8802 7 жыл бұрын
+darknightoftroy of course they are related. When you vote for someone, you are giving them the right to represent you, so they should share in some way your own values, unless you were using the lesser of two evils arguments, which you are not (I would've considered utter bs if that had been the case). LoL have you checked any news about the dakota access pipeline? the only democrat has said something about that is Bernie, so it is fair to think they don't give a shit about that. Do you only get your news from cnn? have you ever looked at the emails from wikileaks? they have proven that none of the things were thought about hillary were wrong or any kind of conspiracy theory, she is a corrupt insider who only favors corporations and big donors (to her campaign or foundation). On top of that, you didn't need wikileaks for knowing about drone strikes are killing civilians 90% of the time, that inequality has rised, social mobility has decreased and salaries are no longer tied with productivity. I wonder why is that, maybe because of politician like hillary and obama has been in the side of big corporation? but just maybe... There are countless examples of her flip-flopping. A classic one is that she was for single payer when she was running against obama and changed her postition after she got money from the health industry. It is sad how people try to defend her without any argument. Are you gonna tell me that you haven't seen any of the wikileaks emails because of Russia? ha ha ha...

It's first past the post still, so it's more a product of chance as well as geographic identity that there are multiple parties. I see a small chance the Republican party could split after the election, but it would always hurt them so I don't know. The most un-kooky Green party I've seen is the one in Germany, because they have proportional representation. Unfortunately in the current system you get Jill Stein pandering to anti-vaxxers because it's so hard to get votes.
@SandraNelson063
@SandraNelson063 7 жыл бұрын
escalinci The Canadian Green party wants us to revamp how things are done election wise. Because they have ONE seat in government they can get their views heard. A first step. It may take years for a shift, but at least there is already some discussion. The Green party has a bit more respect up here, I think. They are acknowledged as a real party. So we have the Liberals, the Conservatives, the New Democrats and the Green party. The trick is who ever has the slightest majority has the prime minister post. But to get legislation passed the ruling party has to negotiate with other parties. So there has to be a lot of bipartisan work done in Parliament. It's just something that's accepted here. The Republican idea of obfuscating and wrecking all legislation that would benefit the American people, just to hurt Obama, would get very short shrift up here. We can get really cranky if our members don't do their jobs.

No More 2 Party System donald trump's tax plan cuts taxes for the working poor by 4.5% while cutting taxes for millionaires by close to 15%. take 15k dollars and put it through his tax proposal- a poor person saves less than $800 while a millionaire saves over $2000. his plan dis-incentivizes charitable giving. his plan is predicted to add 5 trillion to the national debt which unless there's 25 million jobs added to the economy in 10 years will demand large cuts to programs. experts say his economic plan will destroy 5 million jobs. for perspective going back to Calvin Coolidge bill Clinton is the only president to add over 20 million. I absolutely agree we need more political diversity. At the same time- Donald Trump is dangerous for this country. we can't let him be president.

In general? No not a big deal, but in this election in particular? If you're not voting for Clinton you're just helping Trump. He has a fanatical support base where Clinton doesn't, so his entire strategy at this point is to suppress voter turnout for Clinton as much as legally (and perhaps extra-legally) possible. Look at it this way. There aren't a statistically significant number of undecided Trump voters: you either see him as completely incompetent and unfit for office or you don't in which case you're probably voting for him. But there is a statistically significant number of people who haven't made up their mind about voting for Clinton. But to answer your question, it's such a big deal because it's exactly the same as a refusal to vote. And when the consequence of refusing to vote is possible having 4 years of Donald Trump which will range from being not bad but not good to potentially cataclysmic.

I would rather choose NONE drop and ask for the many, many bottles over there you could reach if all the people who wants those bottles would work together. How is a vote for a third-party a vote againt Clinton? Third-party voters will come from both side, not only the Democratics. Gary Johnson's policies are much closer to the Republican Party as well, so should get more republican votes than democrats, while Stein gets all the socialists and eco-friendly from the Democratic side. Johnson has way more voters, and should technically have snatched way more republicans than democrats based on policies.

If all these 'lesser evil' supporters voted for Stein instead, she'd win by a landslide, but instead they are panicked and corralled into voting for someone they don't actually like. It's madness.

I can accept voting third party - but only if the main options, one of whom will be elected, really are 100% equally unpalatable.

The interesting thing about Viggo Mortensen is, he had never heard of The Lord of the Rings and was brought in last minute because the first guy they hired just wasn't up to the job. Viggo got the call and was going to turn it down until one of his kids, who had read the book, told him he had to do it. And then Viggo got so into character he'd actually dress as Aragorn all the time and wanted to keep the sword. He was absolutely dedicated to the character and to his craft, and I love that. I always hate it when actors are embarrassed about the roles they play.

Thank you, Viggo, for being brave and voting Green. I'm so sick of celebrities talking about being environmental but don't have the courage to speak out for the environmental party.

Fortunately, I once was close to a friend who had (and I sincerely hope still has) a worldview and disposition very similar to Viggo Mortensen the person, not the characters he so convincingly portrays. Unfortunately, I've lost touch with my friend because of repeated increases in geographic distance and diverging careers as well as a host of other changes that have taken place over time. I really should reconnect with him for yet another rare dose of keeping company with a person of calm intelligent wisdom and an utter lack of pretense. This video clip and every other one I've watched featuring Viggo Mortensen being interviewed always have made me feel this way and it's about time I act before my all too short life comes to an end. Thanks, Stephen Colbert, for reminding me of a dear and kind friend I once knew well, especially after the incessant sensibilities beating of this soon to end all too drawn out presidential election season.

I wish this man could've been my father growing up; alternatively, I wish he could be my husband. He actually talks SENSE, that is so rare these days; he is so intelligent, so talented, and seems to be a spiritual person as well. How can you not be drawn to him? Please God let there be more people like Viggo Mortensen!!!

I like Vigo he voices his opinions. He doesn't shout them simply voices them. He made some jokes kind of pointing a little at everyone which I thought was funny and fair. On top of that he doesn't judge anyone based on their opinions. He simply moves on in a polite fashion. Be like Vigo. Respect.

Viggo Mortensen and Keanu Reeves are always themselves - even in interviews. Other actors usually try to show themselves in the best way possible - even if that meant to pretend to be someone else. Not these two. And that´s why I really admire them.
