Are you aware of "cooling gloves" for "workouts"? It is supposedly more efficient than steroids in repairing muscle, The gloves create a "vacuum" so the blood vessels stay at the "surface" of your hands making the cooling much more effective. You should look into it...

Was there still ice in the water? After I was swimming in close to 0 degrees for like 30m I couldnt take my car key out of my pocket. My friend had to help. But I have naturally very cold hands. (I mean really fucking cold, whenever someone complains about cold hands I let them touch mine. The good thing is that I have never felt a cold hand lol.)

Add salt. Salt will drop the freezing point and decrease the temperature. You can do the same with ice chests if you want really cold beer or drinks.

@@user-td3sl7wj9v Its fine, my comment was 2 years ago. Since then I was constantly adapting to the cold. Now I can still be comfy at 15 degrees with shorts and shirt. 10 is ok and 5 is cold but not freezing. With a backpack even colder temperatures are possible with just shorts and shirt. My hands have improved drastically, 3 years ago I couldt go without thick gloves for 20 Minutes even at temperatures below 5°C, I could barely move my hands and would need to warm then up for 10-15 minutes water when coming home. My hands are still rather cold, but I dont have any problems that are worth mentioning. Simply by wearing less clothing and NO GLOVES other then extreme conditions like cycling at -5°C(That was a year ago, I expect improvement here aswell, I think I could do that now). I would still wear only shorts and shirt, but that is only possible because moving creates heat. Same goes for shoes, I only wear shoes if broken glass can be expected or more then 4km of rocky ground (or social reasons). Even -10°C is bearable bare foot, snow too, but dont get your feet wet at such temperatures.

I had to laugh, because you reacted to this the exact way I did; it almost makes me feel nauseous, and two minutes is an eternity...I have Raynaud's syndrome, and I am doing the Wim Hof method everyday. Doing this once a day for a week now, it has improved the cold issues with my left hand, but the right is still more susceptible to the Raynaud's effect, i.e. fingers turning bone white, and being uncomfortable. I suggest everyone give it a try, and breathe deeply when you do it. It's another way to challenge your body to adapt!

I work in fisheries off the coast of Greenland. My hands are in freezing saltwater 5-6hrs a day...this is good therapy. However, there are many, many nerve endings in the fingers and hands. It makes sense that they would be one of the most difficult parts of the body to train for cold exposure. In fact, I find full body in ice exposure to be much easier! (Try putting your elbow in the water after your hands have been in and see for yourself -that its much simpler...)

Yep, done this one many TIMES< however I am revisiting it now with your video because I have arthritis from diet that formed in my left hand...so I will now be able to use this for one of it's intended purposes. I have done hands and feet at same time also....yet often it's just easy to do one or the other... Here is an interesting fact...when I used to do it with the three sets of breathing what would happen would be that the ice would feel like steam/electricity alternatively...and that was just like really cool, it's one of the more neat things about this, how your body can't tell the different between hot/cold when you do this with the breathing after a few sets, and the feeling is really hard to describe.

I usually soak in a hot bath but with advanced arthritis I find more relief in alternating temperatures because the heat soothes but cold reduces swelling. Lately I'm cold all the time, even taking levothyroxine. Thyroid level was so low that honest, I was hospitalized in both Fort Worth and Anaheim, CA for bradycardia. Anyone have hints to increase my metabolism at age 72. Just started cycling again.

thats not how arthritis works, like you can get arthritis for example if you punch walls with your knuckles so much that all the small bones get so thick they cant move properly and that causes like constant inflamation in the joints, arthritis is inflamation in the joints, any joint..cold water doesnt cause inflamation, it supresses it, and sometimes inflamation is good bcuz its a way for the body to try to help the effected area so sometimes suppressing inflamation can slow down healing but if you for example condition your knuckles to much and get arthritist bcuz of all the extra bone facking up your hand then your not getting totally rid of that arthritis, its gonna flair up alot. Fighters condition their bodies and just bcuz you need to be more careful with the hand doesnt mean all conditioning gives arthritis, you can condition your shins without such things happening, thats just a big as bone without all them small bones with all those joints with fine motor skills. You can get arhritis indnthe wrist by keeping it bend forwatd all the time like sleeping on it bend or playing with a computer mouse all day everyday. Using the fingers too much like in climbing and not giving enough rest to the fingers and ligaments. Cracking knuckles doesnt seem to do anything to hurt you either in a normal person, its just gas bubbles between the bones that pop when pulled and then they refill again snd that doesnt cause arthritis. Using your thumb too much when swiping on phone can cause arthritis in the thumb (inflamation) it is advised to flick with another finger and more of a motion with the wrist instead off repetative short motion that doesnt even complete its full motion and therefor cause a lot of friction. People use there hands to much inwards and doesnt train the hand to open and extend backwards enough. Also to get stronger and fmore flexable wrist bending them backwards and forwards helps, also training forearms, wrist curls..Safe knuckle conditioning can be done doing knuckle push ups. Did this anwser what you asked? But if a person has extreme arthritis the i think those people hurt for from cold in general.

I only tried it once and my hand started to get really warm a couple of minutes after I pulled it out of the water. I only stayed in for two Minutes and the temp was about 9 degrees Celsius. I would definitely try it if I were you.

@@Evaselfmade thanks! Should try it out a little bit more than I've done.. I took cold showers for one month two years ago (only cold water, not even starting with a little bit warm water). Here in Norway, the tap water is very cold. Atm I can't do it, I always chicken out when I try it

@@tolfred am currently in London and the tap water is freezing cold due to winter season. Look you can do cold showers its mind over matter 🙂 Also, deep slow diagram breathing helps to stop the body from reacting to the cold water. All the best

Hello, i am here for a little advice. So i am 14, do a lot of sports, nearly every day. I have light knee cracking and rarely popping in my knees, especially when i stand up from the squat position. It does not hurt. It is mostly in my right knee. I cant remember any injuries whatsoever. Should i be concerned?

@cgraysonsmith
@cgraysonsmith 3 жыл бұрын
Why don't you try it out? I do cold showers every day and this is way worse. A cold shower is not full immersion in 35 degree water like this is; your shower in winter doesn't come close to this cold; just get a cup of your cold water and check it with a thermometer. Mine is about 40 degrees. Plus, a shower is not getting all over you at once, and the water heats up as it slides over you, so very different dynamic. I find it very painful but when you are done, a few minutes later your hands feel fine!

Basically I had an articular cartilage lesion in my kneee and had surgery. My doctor said he put small disolving darts in my knee to stimulate blood or something. Is this what he was talking about? Or was he talking about a micro fracture in my cartilage

but its not dangerous, that time is nothing BUT you may have done too much too soon right? everything is like that, if you try doing alot of pushups now when your not used to it you strain yourself in all kinds of ways and may get a stabbing pain in the chest muuscles or near the ribs for example and then be extremely sore the day after aswell. Holding your breath for as long as possible too long and too often the same day makes your body really stressed and gives anxiety symptoms and your throat gets a little swollen cuz it had to work and strain not to take a breath. Lifting too much weight under 7 days can tax your nerve system too much and your body gets all wrecked and you get sick. So starting slow and progressing in a steady pace is the best aproach in everything. A little bit of pain and adrenaline is good for your health, it starts up your immune system, but when you have had your immune system started for the day then you dont need to continue to start it up beqause we need to get some rest from the stress aswell, but no stress at all makes us more likely to get sick. So if hands in ice hurts the same night then maybe 30 seconds would be enough for like a week, its like if i have too tight shoes then the same night i can get stabbing pain in the toes just beqause of the shoes like 12 hours before.

Ok, first, I have some problem (understatement of the year) with heat in my body. I feel uncomfortable at 20 celsius....room temperature, and up. I tried this, but I didn't hold my hand still, I waved them around and believe me, it's a LOT colder that way. And my bucket had a lot more ice than that. So I tried to torture myself to get my body temperature down....which is something I do six months a year; try to get my body temp down!! But when I've done this for seven minutes, waving around the cold water (I got bored), I felt uncomforable, but I never felt any pain really. So....am I a temperature freak, or what? I tried to describe this to my doc, but they don't believe me, or they didn't listen. So what do you say? I can pretty much sit with my hand in icewater until the ice melts. That can't be normal. But then....what's wrong, and what can I do?

(Summers are awful. Four or five months when I practically lie in bed, panting, day in and day out, and as soon as I move the temperature spike, and if I don't slow down there is a good chance I'll faint or more often get very close to it. I've learned over the years at what point I should just give up, and find the coldest spot within five steps, and lie down. I usually don't faint at that point. But what do you think? Thyroid? I know somethings up with it. Not cancer btw. I had a good day when I learned that! But why the hell am I this way? You shouldn't walk around in shorts, in sweden, in december (doesn't happen often, but I don't wear "long pants" at all until pretty much november)!!! Help wanted!

You seem to have more of the fire element in your body. Consult a good Ayurvedic doctor and find out about your body type and customize your diet accordingly. You'd need to eat things that cool you down naturally instead of stuff that produces more heat in your body.

maybe not, inflamation is actually good for ya at the start of an injury, that means that the body has started to try to fix it, but chronic inflamation is another thing so if you have a chronic problem then its best to just cancel any plans.
