I bought this axe based on the review from Wranglerstar. I paid $25 for it on Amazon and got a leather sheath for $8.00 that did not smell like many that are offered on Amazon. I use it to chop kindling for the camp fire. It took me about 10 minutes to remove the coating up to the black paint and another 10 minutes to put an edge on it that you can shave hair off your arm with. I am very happy with it based on value of the price I paid and what I use it for. I have other axes I use to chop wood and would not take camping. If I need to cut wood, I use a chain saw.

It is a great little axe this It does have its place and purpose the steel is great I must have just been one of the unlucky few that had issues because it seems like everybody that owns one loves it

The thing about axe handles...is it kinda reminds me of knife steel. I mean, its almost like a matter of magic and luck as to whether it will break or not. People go on and on about grain orientation, run off, heart wood...and yet sometimes a straight grain sapwood haft will break after first use. You just can't know for sure what will happen until it happens. That being said, Coldsteel chopping tools are very cheaply produced and the way they do handles on axes and tomahawks is definitely NOT the best. But if you know how to fix it then you can make them MUCH better.

Just ordered one not for use, but as a template. I'm about to make a custom damascus tomahawk, but I want it to be a useful tool. I plan to make essentially the same blade, but bevel the cheeks, beef up the size of the eye, & lengthen the poll for more tomahawk look. Hopefully it'll ride the line of being a jack of all trades hunting axe, that's not too heavy for a fighting axe

That's really cool man the overall profile is good on this axe but I think your will definitely be an improvement

@@Running-with-skizers Hopefully. I've only made a couple of tomahawks, never a true axe. Damascus also makes it more complicated. But we ball

You just got a bad axe, I’ve had mine for about 3 years cut a few trees down split some wood, just tuned the edge up with a file that’s it, left everything else factory . Back then I believe it was $27 ish.

That's cool man they were definitely priced better back then
