The story behind the song:
Each time we write/arrange a tune we take a journey. We have to admit-this journey took us a lot further than we expected. Retracing our steps reveals several factors that made this a reality. As we started arranging it we had serious writer's block. Perhaps some of the worst we've ever had. In fact, one day instead of writing we went around the entire studio with a can of WD-40 and coated every piece of metal to ensure that we were a squeak-free studio. Then on a whim we decided to back away and take an entirely new approach to the song-an African approach. It may seem random in retrospect, but at the time it was an exciting way to restart the arrangement. It was working, but our journey still was on foot until we called in Alex Boye, one of the most talented people we've ever met. Alex has this contagious energy that gave new... We'd like to thank from the bottom of our hearts, Duane Fielding who offered the helicopters and SkyHawk www.skyhawkhelicopters.com for not dropping the piano... :-) Half-way through the first day of shooting we discovered that, as typical guys, we had forgotten to bring ANY food or water to this remote location. We had two options: one, wrestle a mountain rodent and harvest cacti or two, starve. Duane, our head pilot, took pity on us. He took off (literally) and moments later landed in a Wendy's parking lot, ordered 5 of everything (sadly, he couldn't use the drive-through) ...took off again and brought us chicken sandwiches and hamburgers via airmail. Thank you Duane! Flying in your helicopter was a dream come true for us despite the lack of doors. =)

It's been years and I still come back to hear this beautiful song. I remember listening to it for the first time, when I was still at highschool, and buying the disc that same day. It grew on me, I listened to it every day, and now, with all due respect for Coldplay, whenever I hear the iconic melody of this song, this is the version that comes up to my mind. Such a beautiful interpretation. Thank you, for being part of my life.

I first heard this in my high school piano class 9 years ago. The teacher asked us to close our eyes, listen to the music and create a story out of it. I won’t tell you the story I formed- but it was quite adventures and … still is. Beautiful music shows us the beauty of life. Thanks to two of my favorite musicians- Alex Boye and the Piano guys. You have always rocked!

I like how Steven is always smiling when he plays the cello. That's how music is supposed to make you feel. When I used to play the violin as a kid, I wanted to play music from the movies, like star wars. I never got to play what I wanted to, and lost interest. These guys make me wanna play again. They play things that make them happy, not because some teacher wants to play old classical stuff.

We are lucky to hear this song in live tonight with The Piano Guys in Brisbane. It is so amazing concert! Lots of laughter and beautiful music. My son and me enjoyed every moment. I do appreciate that Steven told kids keeping practicing their string instruments. “You will enjoy the feeling of FLY”. The only thing is the concert is too short. Hope to see you again soon!

***** Your actually right. Just checked on Wikipedia. He was actually born in England but spent his early childhood in Nigeria and afterwards back in England. I thought he was South African since he refers to the Swahili language in the beginning of this video and I detect a heavy African accent when he sings some words, which is strange if he grew up in England.

Increíble que esta sea la única canción que puede hacerme llorar cada vez que la escucho. Por allá del 2013 o 2014 cuando esta canción era relativamente nueva, KZfaq te la solía recomendar en el inicio del feed cuando no tenias cuenta creada. Mi abuelo que en ese entonces tenia como 69 años, se había comprado hace poco un Smart TV, nunca supo como usarlo pero una vez entro a KZfaq y encontró esta canción, le gusto y una vez en una almuerzo familiar la pusieron para que la escuchemos y veamos. Y siempre tengo ese recuerdo patente, no se por que. Hoy mi abuelo tiene Alzheimer y ya no se acuerda de absolutamente nada, ni siquiera de el.

These piano guys are just amazingly awesome and they can make beautiful music with that piano, and not just the traditional way it is played. Alex Boye, this man is so very talented, and them together, they can't go wrong at all! This is so beautiful, that I have caught myself listening to this song over and over again and again. Once you have heard it for the first time, believe me, you will definitely want to hear it again. If you have the time, do listen, I promise you, you will not regret it at all.

It's amazing isn't it? Humans are able to take raw, natural materials, process them, repurpose them, build instruments, and make such amazing music. It's awe-inspiring. You never realize just how much potential we have as a race until you look at all of the things we have already done. If only we all took that untapped potential and made use of it.

Me and my kids love the melody of this song. We listen to 'Peponi" over and over again in our car with their Mom, who passed away last year due to cancer. Surely she is in paradise now with her beloved Savior.

When I was young (around 10 years old) I'd listen to this song almost every day, and fell in love with the Cello part. It really inspired me to pick up the Cello. Which I ended up doing a few years later. I learned for about a year, and then switched to the violin. But I still love both instruments. Almost 6 years later, I still come back and listen to this master piece.

Coldplay did this song well! But this world version takes it into a whole new dimension! It's so much more poinient! More Earthy and real! Listening in 2021 and 22! This song is timeless and classic!
