Coldplay - Violet Hill (Live in Madrid 2011) is taken from a premiere concert streamed live on KZfaq. The programme was titled, "Coldplay Live: Unstaged". The band performed songs from Mylo Xyloto alongside their previous hits. The concert aired on 26 October 2011. The show was directed by Anton Corbijn and presented by American Express.
Coldplay - Violet Hill is taken from the album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends released in 2008.

+Nelson Belmont Probably because there are alot of haters too. I honestly think Coldplay are one of the few REALLY popular bands that actually also are, really fucking good, and this is a problem. All the picky music fans that has pronounced themselves expert mostly likes stuff that is rock, and isn't too popular - people can't accept Coldplay as one of the best bands in the two last decades, because they become too mainstream popular - they are a worse band because they are popoular. This is probably because the most popular Coldplay songs, like Paradise, Magic and A Sky Full of Stars, all have terrible lyrics, and aren't too original either. The Coldplay fans that see them as one of the best bands of the decade, does NOT want to Coldplay to be remembered by their most generic and terribly written songs, we wanna remember them by a song like Violet Hill - amazing lyrics, a revolting upbeat and a lovely outro.

so agree with you. already know what my kids are gonna be listening to ! Coldplay is truly one of the greatest bands of our generation no matter what the haters say. it's quite undeniable and I bet they themselves know it too.

@@MrJeppe313 I don't think the lyrics are terrible. They are just honest, genuine words of a feeling, and yes they might not be "original" or too "creative", but its full of love and enthusiasm and pure positivity. Not everything has to be unique in every way.

It is an under-rated song too. It did get radio airplay when first released. Though it hasn't seemed to feature too much in 'live performance' compilations on platforms like this. It has a nice mellow instrumental beginning with a slightly haunting oervre. Then quickly ups the tempo including the guitar riff interplays. And reaches the crescendo before the soft reflective final verse. One of me faves.
