I love the 78-79 Fords. My Dad sold me his 79 F-150 351M. My uncle had a cherry 78 Bronco XLT 400M (with a lot of performance parts). I really think these two years were the best looking Fords. I prefer the look of square headlights. If memory serves me correctly my uncles 78 Bronco had the square headlights only because it was an XLT.

not butting in but thought I would just say that the M designation only applied to the 351, Ford needed to have it distinguished from the 351 cleveland and the 351 windsor. The 400 was a stand alone engine based on the cleveland block like the 351 M. This naming has been an ongoing deal for decades, somehow the M got attached to the 400 but if you look it up there is plenty of info on the debate of names. I have a '78 4x4 with a 400 that is built big time, the T18 four speed will let this truck pull like a bulldozer.

@@garymcmullin2292 sir...the 400 is a 351m with a different crank..the block and heads are the same. The 400 is not a cleveland block. It's the same block as the 351m, which is why people so often add the M to the 400.

I knew it was gonna drive right out of there as soon as I saw it. I think it’s bad ass. I could tell by your time lapse you’ve removed a lot of snow off of a lot of vehicles. LOL

As long as there was enough gas in the tank, I would've started the truck with the defroster on a came back in around two hours once everything thawed.🤣 Great truck!

The premium fuel only sticker is hilarious. Obviously you can run that motor on 87 just need to turn the timing back.

Duuuuuude!.. you gotta find a 78-79 SNOWFIGHTER! it's a Dana 60 High pinion kingpin.. 4 inches wider than a Dana 44. It will match your spring width. Nice snow collection!

I am totally surprised that you do not have a coolant heater in the bottom radiator hose....you sure have the climate to require it. I have one in my 78 and also in all of our farmall tractors....makes starting a whole new experience. I run an Edelbrock 4 barrel and the electric choke works like a charm every time. I do not see a need for injection at all. From the sound of your engine it could use some Marvel Mystery oil.

Damn fine looking rig. Sounds like it has a noisy lifter though? Maybe just an exhaust leak though. I had issues with the fenderwell headers on my old 79 f250. Never could get them to stop leaking lol

Thanks, yeah I heard that when editing the video! The exhaust does have a slight leak where the header attaches. That very well be what it is. Thanks for watching!

Are the crew cabs pretty rare in Alaska? They are few and far between here in the rust belt.

Yes they are, they are getting hard to find everywhere I imagine. Had to redo the roof on this one. Old age was trying its best to take it down
