Steve is a great guy. We met here on KZfaq several years ago, and I'm proud to say he is now a close friend. He lives across the country from me, but we will finally get to meet in mid-October as he plans on a road trip across the country to attend my fall meet this year. Great video, my friend. Thanks for sharing, and God bless.

Thanks for watching! We have a great time working on stoves and lanterns. I’m slowly getting my son hooked on them, this way I have someone to pass my collection on to, and I know he’ll cherish, appreciate, and take care of what he has.

Nice work! Tank pressure is your friend with Coleman products with instant lighting. It speeds starting by higher velocity air through the fuel and air tube to better atomize the fuel when cold. Have your match, lighter or torch lit and on the burner before you open the valve. That couple of seconds head start makes a HUGE difference. This is one of my favorite stoves. They went cheap soon after these and got rid of the flame adjuster/tip cleaner. The great simmer is the best part of this design. I suppose all good things...... I love the classics, of course, but the best packable stoves, IMO, are this, the 550B, and the APEX, which had multiple model numbers.

@mikemorgan5015 Thank you! I too like the older stoves and lanterns. My son and I have a backpacking trip coming up so I’ll get some video of it in action in the wild. Stay tuned as I have more really cool, and old stoves in the queue for future videos.

How did you get the rust off of the feet as they appear to be riveted on? I was just given a 400 and a 400A with this issue. Thank you for a great video!
@Firencoffee2 ай бұрын
Typically I use a small wire brush and #0000 steel wool. If there’s a lot of rust I’ll soak just them in evaporust by filling a container just enough to cover the feet.
