In this video I discuss my reasons behind a decision to fit some auxiliary driving lights to my Honda CB500X, and have been kindly supplied the lights free of charge by a company called COLIGHT.
These lights are the 2" MT SERIES MINI MOTORCYCLE and are dual beam high intensity LED lights with full details of the MT range being found using the link below.
You can also get a discount of 15% by using the voucher code - CampingBiker
Please use the following link to look at the products and use your voucher code in the discount code box:
MT Series Range Link - bit.ly/43JzK0T
I review, install, and then demonstrate the lights, including riding in the dark, and provide final thoughts on them.
The thoughts and actions outlined in the video are personal to me and everyone will need to view things from their own perspective.
I hope you find this video helpful and if you have any question just ask.
If you would like to support the channel please feel free to donate whatever you can afford, it will go towards the cost of producing the videos and every little helps.

Thanks for the prompt reply, appreciated 👍🏻 Like yourself, I'm a daytime rider so that is what I'd be using them for. Thanks again 👍🏻

No problem Colin…I try not to ride at night if I can help it, age and eyesight don’t help but with these lights it’s honestly like daylight 😀

A very handy film to add to my reference videos, I hadn't heard of this brand before, they seems to offer xclnt performance and very reasonably priced! Cheers and thanks for sharing. I'm sixty this year and have noticed very similar changes to my eyesight.

Great video. thank you!! Got my lights last week and used your code. what a deal ! Not sure from your video but did you take of the side panels/fairings to run the wires?
@thecampingbiker791

Excellent, they are holding up well for me and great deal…I took the lower side panels off but not the upper fairing panels (ie tank ones) as managed to feed through 👍🏻

Quite a difference. Would you consider it a faff to have to use a 2nd switch to turn them off, considering they can't really be left on when meeting oncoming traffic?
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 10 ай бұрын
Yes, to a degree I’m thinking more remote country roads are where they’ll be best used but also a different pair could be wired to main beam so on off with high/low switch! I’ll see how things go but the fog lights will be useful on these ones 👍🏻

If we have not got a fuze box where does the green cable go..?
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 3 ай бұрын
Find a switched cable (ie anything like lights) and attach into that or if you have switched accessory plugs, like my Honda CB500x, that’s even better as you can just plug it in.

Hi, Im thinking of getting these lights and a auxiliary fusebox. When connecting to a auxillary fusebox, do you still have to connect the switched live wire? Surely the fusebox is connected to a switched live.
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 4 ай бұрын
No, I also use an auxiliary box (called fuze box) which is switchable live or switched, and I have the wires connected here on switched so goes out when I switch off.. the fuze box is connected to live

I've bought a pair of these but not fitted them yet. Looks like you have no option but to use the handlebar switch to turn them on. Pity they can't come on with the chosen beam pattern just wired into the ignition.
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 2 ай бұрын
Yes, these have to use the provided switch because of functionality of the different options…found it worked quite well mounted where I did mine.

There are a couple of accessory sockets on the 500x, one behind the left upper body panel (roughly left indicator area) and one under the seat, these designed to wire pos/neg accessory cable so it’s always off if ignition switched off and the green would just go with positive cable in this case. You would need to buy the little plugs to make it work and you can also get a splitter cable to have capability to plug two separate accessories in! I’ll put link in below.. Or, just tap the green wire into a a switched cable (ie anything like lights) with pos/neg to battery. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296197485672?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=rahn-izvr1u&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=MKjvCP0rTiS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Can these be left on during the day without dazzling oncoming drivers? Thanks in advance 😃
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 2 ай бұрын
Yes, that’s very much how I used them for better driver awareness of the bike…I don’t actually ride much in the dark but if you do boy are these good 👍🏻

Hi, can you explain where is "switch power point" on the bike? Where the green cable would be connected? I have no FuzeBox. Thank you
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 10 ай бұрын
Find a switched fuse (ie lights) and just fit it to that. Many bikes have switched accessory sockets…check with your bike first. Obviously the positive and negative just go to battery

Will theses work on Honda cb125f or will there drain to much battery
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 3 ай бұрын
Yes, should be fine.. they’ll only take power when ignition on and as long as you haven’t got lots of other additional electrical accessories it won’t be a problem.
