So great. colin is still alive. Havent heard of him in years. Seems so calm and serene here but I know what a wild, party guy he was.Met him on his unexplained exile to Texas. Played some gigs with him there and he was a riot. Jokes, asides, funny voices hed use and his comments about the texas crowds were priceless. have lots on tape. he has had quite a life!!! heARD LOTS OF good stories about everyone that you dont hear in the main stream about what everyone is really like. Always wondered why he moved to texas from la???? texas musicians maligned him a lot and criticized him...but texas musicians think they are God's gift and they are the best in the world and they just prefer to live in texas. BS!!! Love colin. always played at my best with him. something in the water.

duncan meyer I met Colin when he was playing with Vince Guaraldi and Monty Budwig at the trident in Sausalito in the early sixties. They recorded Cast Your Fate To Wind album at that time. It is a great album. Colin became friends and mentor with our small quartet. Great to see he is still active and influential. .

I took a lesson from him many years ago. He recommended a 14x20” sized bass drum with coated ambassadors to play his bass drum techniques effectively. It’s now my go to size bass drum for everything! 👍 Great video thanks for sharing. RIP Mr. Bailey.

Great interview !! He reminded me of my life time teacher in Miami Danny Perez who studied with Henry Adler in the 40's in NYC. The holy grail of American drumming!!!

I truly felt the love and respect between these two guys and this was an incredible interview and is really great to learn about more of these very influential jazz drummers and every Christmas now I will never be able to listen to the Peanuts movies with the kids and family without thinking of Colin. I can't wait to hear it again it will take on a new meaning to me and I am going to search KZfaq for some of the stuff he did especially with Joe Pass very exciting interview. Dom is just incredible in his interviews his energy and love for our art form is just incredible.
