Anybody remember Colin as the schizophrenic Doomsday Killer in season 6 of Dexter? I love the fact that Colin is not trying to get out from under his dad’s shadow, as I’ve heard so many children of famous parents say. He’s not threatened by his Dad’s success. He considers his Dad an asset in his life. I love that. I just love it.

Yeah he was great in Dexter. He was great with Bradley Whiteford in "The Good Guys" which was a short lived TV series by Matt Nix who also created "Burn Notice"

His mannerisms, both speech and facial expressions, are pretty similar to Tom's.. and I love the laugh around 0:41.. exactly how Tom laughs.. a quick laugh then start talking again.. and the emphasis on thinking you can 2:10

If I'm just watching him, I forget that he's TH son. But if I close my eyes and listen....... holy crap the sound of his voice and his cadence is ALL his father.

okay what cracks me up is, I was just coming down to the comments here to ask if I'm nuts, am I the only one who actually DOESN'T think he looks all that much like him. Didn't really a lot when he was younger, and I don't feel like that's changed a whole lot. okay looking at this interview footage, particularly with the sort of Forrest Gump-kind of hairstyle he's rocking, like his forehead kind of does, if that makes sense. But for one thing I feel like his eyes are TOTALLY different. like maybe he's got his mother's eyes. Mind you, I'm not suggesting he looks like Matt Damon or something, someone so completely UNLIKE Tom Hanks, but for these people going on about "he looks soooooooo much like him", I guess I am nuts because I don't see a particularly strong likeness at all. Funnily enough, I kinda feel like Tom Everett Scott still looks more like him lol

I don’t think he looks exactly like his dad. There are differences, physically but they’re subtle. Colin is taller and lankier than his dad. A slight darker eye and hair color. Now they’re voices are almost exactly the same. I think they’re personalities are different. Colin is shyer and more serious than his dad. Tom is way more outgoing and jovial. They both are absolute sweethearts in their own ways. That’s just what I think as an observation.

He says he's fortunate to have someone believe in him. I think that's the best type of fortune. There are too many instances where people like myself are not surrounded by good influences. Being around the right type of people means the world, literally.

This brings up such an interesting questions when you're dealing with someone with a famous relative. Colin is a talented, creative force in this industry, but would he have the same level of success were he not Tom Hanks son? The answer has to be no, but at the same time i don't think you can hold someone's advantage against them like that. We all have people that will help us in one way or another and give us a break, even if it's just being born into the right class situation. It bums me out when I see this situation and then the person behind the name isn't worth shit creatively, but Colin has really carved out his own image rather than being having to be introduced as "Tom Hank's son" because there's nothing else there.

I disagree on your thoughts on success based off of name. Nicholas Coppola changed his last name to cage because he didn’t want to ride of the success of his uncle Francis Ford Coppola. He has had a successful career without that name as well. He has made some bad movies but that’s only because he is working as much as possible to pay off some bad financial mistakes but damnit when he is on it he is great.

And is a very, very unimpressive actor and has achieved a microcosm of what his Father did. It’s not a bad thing, but if it weren’t for being his dads son, he would get zero roles. That’s sort of just how it works when the children of hugely successful people try and follow their shadow and doesn’t try to seperate themselves from it

People, I’m a nurse and we sometimes play the game of what’s the worst thing that they could do and then the person will top it. That’s cynical for sure, but it’s also people and I love them. I used to block my lines in nursing school to get through oral exams... acting, medicine, teaching.... people, they are marvelous non answers 🙌🏼🤗👍🏼.

It's weird to me how often the kids of famous and incredibly talented parents say that their parents rarely give them any advise on their craft. Clint Eastwoods kid said his dad has Never given him any acting advice. It sounds like Tom Hanks has only ever told Colin that he thinks he had what it takes.

It is so uncanny how his voice sounds like his dad. Not perfectly, but between his genetics giving him a similar throat and his upbringing giving him a similar inflection, it's just weird to hear a Hollywood icon so accutely. "Oh yeah there's Tom."

We, on the science side can appreciate the art of well, art , but people in the performing arts, writing or whatever , don't seem to get the art of equations :)
