Jason McIntyre reacts to USMNT falling to Panama 2-1 after a late goal in the 83rd minute. Tim Weah was ejected after receiving a red card in the first half and the US played with 10 men on the field for the remainder of the game. He then reveals a LeBron James theory after the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James at No. 55.

Nice take. Klay Thompson and DK would give LAL nice outside threat and they can work out a way to get one more solid player and get rid of DR. Who would you rather than Bronny James defense in the playoffs or DR who can't provide any defense and is yellow streak down his back in playoff games. LBJ DK AR AD and Klay is a nice team. Playmakers good outside shooting inside game and a decent bench. Just need a couple athletic PF/SF guys to rebound and defend and they are good.

I think it's understandable for someone who started a business to put their own flesh and blood into a management role because a management role is something millions of people can do. Very few can play at a professional level. Its always been believed that sports will always be a beacon of meritocracy. This is why it rubs people the wrong way when players get on teams for nepotism.

Nepotism isn’t the problem, it’s the fact that LeBron has forced so many things across so many different teams that rarely work out and he’s never criticized. His son could potentially be a decent NBA player, but he will never be great and this will again come back to haunt the Lakers just so LeBron can get a year or two of what he wants. Dalton is a way better player and might actually be an asset where Bronnie is a massive liability.

It's fine that lebron got his kid drafted by the lakers but not some great story beyond lebrons longevity. It's not like Ken Griffey Jr where he was a standout on his own. That was a great story. Personally i just question if this was the best move for bronny. It seems to me that he needed more development in college. In 5 years are we looking back that lebron did this for him and lament bronny flaming out in the NBA.

I'll admit I'm not the biggest soccer guy so maybe this is a crazy hot take, but having to play a man down after a red card makes absolutely no sense to me. Kick the guy out and suspend him for some amount of games afterwords, but the team shouldn't have to play without that spot. No other sport does this and it makes the game almost unwatchable when it happens
@rafsoverflow
@rafsoverflow 8 күн бұрын
The problem with soccer is that it is very easy to injure another player if you really want to, and I'm not saying like an injury that will take someone out of a game, I'm saying ruin his entire season one career. Therefore they punishment from a red card affects the whole team, so that players not only think about the damage they can do to others but also how negatively it will affect their team. Now, many many times (too many to count) the team that has one less player goes on to win the game or even improves their with one less player because of the urgency to score. A red card does not mean unwatchable.
@therick8248
@therick8248 8 күн бұрын
@@rafsoverflow I'd rather see the team have to give up a penalty shot than lose a player for the rest of the game. You say it doesn't affect watchability, but the second that the US lost their player they only controlled the ball about a quarter of the time and had to resort to counterattacks only to try an score. Maybe the red-carded team can team can choose to either lose a player or give up a penalty shot depending on time left in the game, but as a casual soccer watcher it completely ruins the experience of the game when it becomes 11 on 10. It's also hard to argue injury issues as a factor when Panama was practically assaulting the US team with impunity, and got almost zero punishment for their actions
@adrianbuck8772
@adrianbuck8772 8 күн бұрын
Even if you get an red card your still playing 10 vs 11 (9 vs 10 on the field + goalkeepers) so its less of an punishment than it would be in other sports where missing 1 guy has an bigger effect. Also red cards can happen at any time. 18th Minute is very very early. Most red cards happen during the second half or 60th Minute onwards.
@therick8248
@therick8248 8 күн бұрын
@@adrianbuck8772 I don't think that argument holds up. In football, if you made a team play with 10 guys after a helmet to helmet hit (or something equivalent), the team that lost a player would get absolutely torched the rest of the game. I watched a clearly superior US team become completely toothless as soon as they lost their guy. I'm not saying no team can ever win when down 10 bc clearly they have and will, but especially when it happens that early in a game, it makes it both unwatchable and tilts the scales well beyond what the infraction would merit
@adrianbuck8772
@adrianbuck8772 8 күн бұрын
Red cards are very rare. Most guys play an 40+ game season without an red card. So if you happen to have an extreme incident its an extreme punishment. Players know that and avoid it normally.
