He's right. What the New England Patriots have done in this era of football should not be possible. Also on the other end of the spectrum the ineptitude of the Cleveland Browns should not be possible and yet they did 0-16 and 1-15 back to back.

Bill couldn't have done it without Brady. A well coached team that is ahead can stay ahead but when you're down it takes a special player with a special set of intangibles that can bring them back. Brady is just that. The most clutch player all-time. If you think Jimmy Garopollo could've brought them back you're something else. Bill couldn't even make the playoffs when Cassel was in. Who cares if he won 10+ games with him, that team was undefeated just a year prior and they lost the important games, the ones that Brady wins.

Joseph Carter you must not watch spurs basketball because in spurs yes they have a system but with a dunk fast break monster like kawhi who starts the fast break with his awesome defense is never boring, when you have jonathon simmons doing lebron blocks from the back and doing posters on centers its never booring, when you have players like ginobili and danny green and in patty mills shooting lights out from 3 its never boring, then you have the big men like Aldridge and Gasol and dedmon and david lee who just finish at the rim soft or hard and pass really good for a bigman, its never boring

Hate this argument. Yes, the 01, 03, 04 teams played great defense. But they’re remembered as great because they won. They beat the GSOT in ‘01. They shut down Manning in the ‘03, ‘04 playoffs in which they were underdogs, btw. In 04 Troy Brown played 8 games as the nickel corner and had 3 picks. Vinatieri made 1 amazing kick in 01: the 45 yarder against the Raiders. The 45 yarder in the dome to win the SB was a routine kick for any kicker in the league. If he’d missed it it would have been a Norwood-esque choke. That was Brady’s first year playing and he failed to win the starting job from Bledsoe. Of course he wasn’t a great nfl QB yet. Of course he needed help from his defense / special teams. The remarkable thing about the game-winning drive in SB 36 wasn’t AV’s kick. It was the ice water in TB12’s veins, starting from the 17 with no time outs, with Madden saying he should play for OT, throwing to the likes of (not) future hall of famers JR Redmond and Jermaine Wiggins. In OT of the Raiders game TB12 went 8-8 and converted a 4th-and-3, got Vinatieri to the 13 yard line. In SB 38, “clutch” Vinatieri missed 2 30-yd FGs in the first half. If he’d hit them Brady wouldn’t have had to drive to the 20 so he could make his last 30-yarder. ... TB12 isn’t GOAT because he had Marino/Manning-like skills. He’s the GOAT because he never did. And yet year after year after year he has been consistently the smartest and winningest QB despite lacking Aaron Rodgers’ arm or Manning’s receivers. In 12 opportunities he’s led 9 game-winning drives in the playoffs, and would have 11 if he had taken more time to score.

Tom Brady is one of those VERY rare Atheletes who, like David Ortiz, is SO good at what he does, SO clutch, So important to teams legacy and success, that he has earned that most rare of privileges . And that is that HE tells YOU when he's done NOT the other way around. and if he has a couple of off years before he decides he finished, then you DEAL with it. Ortiz didn't have a bad year after many people decided it was time for him to go, and neither will Brady. Brady himself said " when I suck, I'll retire" I hope that's not for a long time, but i think we need to let TOM decide.

6 Championships and all of those SB runs over a 20 year run in the NFL will likely never be seen again - literally had to get the perfect combination of the GOAT QB and the GOAT head coach together for this to happen. These guys had to overcome the hardest schedules, no top draft picks (usually picking at the end of the first), and in the salary cap era with very few top-level stars (Gronk, TB12, and for a few years, Randy Moss, are the only offensive HoFers on that squad). What they managed to do is unbelievable.

+Colin Cowherd I agree with you 100%. You have masterfully described the genius of New England's system, or shall I say "formula" :-) In referring to New England, I believe Dan Patrick said something along the lines of, "it's the same machine with interchangeable parts..." They're success doesn't hinge on one player. It doesn't matter who they pick up, whether it be from someone else's starting lineup or the scrap pile of written off talent. The Patriots are masters at improvisation and in realizing the strengths and abilities of each player. I liken the leadership of the Patriots organization to a race car mechanic that knows his car better than anyone else, as well as the cars his driver is competing against, hence the reason the Patrios have been successful an dominant. We've never seen anything quite like what the Patriots have done and may very well never see anything like it again in pro sports - this is absolutely incredible.

Yes but in basketball many teams have won multiple champions, been to the finals, been to the finals back to back. I understand what you're trying to say but what the Patriots just did is amazing. Especially in football getting to the superbowl and the Patriots have been to 7 and won 5. I guess you can say that the Spurs are the Patriots of the NBA but the Patriots are something else.

Spurs have been to 6 and won 5 (not sure if you put more weight in getting there or having a better win %) Patriots and Spurs both have a revolving door of players who either want to get paid and leave or dont fit their mold and get let go. The one constant both franchises have had is All time player talent (Brady and Duncan) and coaching (Belichik & Pop). I cant say the patriots are any different than the spurs regardless of sport.

Then why did he suck in the postseason from 2007-2012? Why did they feel a need to draft a new QB? BB pushed all the buttons. Brady was lucky to not only to be drafted, but to land where did land so he could be taught by the master.

Patriots are the greatest dynasty ever and Brady is the goat. I only see three things that you could put against the patriots. 1. Their division during Brady's run has been atrocious. I mean really bad. Brady never had another great team to compete with in his division. 2. Stigma of cheating. 3. The patriots never dominated in any of their super bowl games. And they didn't win a super bowl with their best team, the 07 patriots.

Since 2002 with realignment if you take out the Pats record for the AFC East and take out the division winners each year during the same time period, the AFC East has the second best winning % in the NFL. The NFC East has the best. Do some research NE's record vs non-divisional teams since 2001 is 143-45. WITH Brady, it's 135-42. vs the previous year's division champs, the Pats are 36-12. 33-9 with Brady. They are also 79-47 vs +.500 teams from 2001-2015. And 77-44 with Brady. These numbers do not include the 2016 season.

+Jack League yea but the Afc east overall has sucked. Who was good? The bills? Nope. The dolphins? Nope? The jets? Maybe one or two years. The Acc east has been pretty soft as divisions go during Brady's run. But he is the goat hands down no comparison

rdskn4eva Literally statistically they're a top division; t hat's removing the patriots. Numbers don't lie
@rdskn4eva
@rdskn4eva 7 жыл бұрын
Numbers dont lie but they also dont tell the whole story sometimes. When was the last time Buffalo made the playoffs? 99? The Jets have been decent at best since Brady took the reigns as they've made the playoffs 6 times in the 15 years Brady has been with the Patriots. The Dolphins have been to the playoffs, what 3 or 4 times since the Brady Era? The Colts had 2 in the 2 years they were in the division. So in 16 years, the other 3 teams in that division have made the play offs a total of 12 times..6 by the Jets, 4 by the Dolphins, 2 by the Colts and 0 by the Bills and the Dolphins are the only team to win a div title during that span outside the Patriots. Im all for stats and advanced metrics and such, but sometimes you go by the eye test. Literally statistically speaking Kirk Cousins was a top passer in the NFL last year, but my eyes dont tell me the same story. Literally, statistically speaking, Tony Romo is one of the best passers in the NFLthe past 10 years, but my eyes tell me a completely different story

It has happened before , Boston Celtics. Red Auerbach , take your players strengths and weaknesses and make it the system, most these teams don't allow players to do what they and develop weaknesses it's thing you have to respect about Belicheck, Popovich and guys like Auerbach, players that play hard , prepare by coming early leaving late and pay price for success old school coaching with flexibility with new age ideas, nutrition, training.

Nice to hear that the 1990s Cornhusker teams whose games I grew up watching and attending impressed Colin that much. To build that dynasty, they did start recruiting heavily in TX/CA/FL in the late 80s and early 90s, after getting repeatedly burned by speedy Florida/Florida State/Miami receivers in bowl games. And at the time, Nebraska's strength/conditioning systems and equipment were unparalleled, which probably helped recruiting... until the rest of the NCAA caught up. Eventually, NU was brought down to "occasional conference division contender" level by parity mechanisms, like scholarship caps and the Big 12's stricter rules on taking academic partial or non-qualifiers. Drafting late isn't as much of a detriment as many would think. Top-5 or Top-10 draft picks tend to be better players, but they also cost more to sign. Players drafted late in the first round and early in the second round actually provide the best value to teams, because they're significantly cheaper than early picks, while not being all that much worse -- exactly the kinds of players the Patriots are always looking for! So drafting in the #25-32 range every year essentially plays right into New England's personnel strategy. And in free agency, the Pats' history of winning gives the team more leverage in convincing talented FAs to join or remain with the team at below-market rates -- a parity-wrecking feedback loop that contributes mightily to NE's sustained success. "Do you want to make a few million more going 4-12 every year, or do you want to win a Super Bowl?" Meanwhile, perennial cellar-dwellers have to pay FAs a premium just to convince them to sign or stay with the team.
