UConn is going back to backkkk. The Huskies dominated Purdue 75-60. After a heartbreaking loss to Villanova in 2020, Dan Hurley famously warned the college basketball world quote: 'People better get us now, because it's coming.' Colin Cowherd compares the Huskies to 'Oppenheimer': a historic three-hour movie that swept through awards. Despite the Boilermakers' heartbreaking loss, Zach Edey finished with 37 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Edey's NBA potential remains a question but Colin defends the big man and breaks down why he will thrive as a pro despite the new-age league of shooting.

People think Edey can't play in the NBA showing their lack of BB knowledge. He dominated Clingan (a lottery pick) in the bigs showdown and gassed out in the 2nd half cause he's shouldering the entire game against a constantly moving Uconn O. What he sat for 2 minutes the entire game? People have no common sense. Someones gonna use a lottery pick on this guy. 7'4 guys who win back to back player of the year awards every year they started & dominate and move like this don't come very often.
@mr.nobody9697
@mr.nobody9697 2 ай бұрын
Actually no. He came out in teh first 15 minutes and dominated Clingan. Then he got tired and didnt do much the last 5 minutes against clingan. He then came out in the second half and Clingan defended him well then picked up a couple fouls and had to sit. Then Johnson came in and made a few big plays because he was just too fast for Edey to keep up. Johnson then picked up his 5th and Clingan came in and didnt really guard Edey he just stood there and put his arms up. The game was pretty much over with `10 minutes to go and with Clingan on the bench he basically bulldozed Karaban a few times and got garbage time points when he shouldve picked up at least 2 fouls and that was his night. Good player and he can play in the nba but he cant keep the pace to be a starter and he struggled with Johnsons athleticism so in the nba he will have trouble with the more athletic bigs with all the spacing and he will get cooked.

Colin, love your assessment on Zach Edey. Kid has the dog in him and intelligent as well. Works HARD! The NBA needs to give him a chance because he can bring back some old school game. Zach can definitely breathe some life back into the NBA. As Caitlyn Clark can tremendously help the women's game grow so will Zach Edey to revive the NBA. Your assessment is totally on point! Look at the NBA all-star games the last couple of years...BORING! They need to bring back the physical aspects of the game like that of the late 80s and early 90s of the NBA. It is when the NBA was entertaining.

He never gets called for fouls, 3 second violations, or traveling despite him doing all of those things. And if the defender breaths on him they get called for a foul. He is already the biggest dude out there, and then he got coddled by the refs too. It made everyone sick watching Purdue play with 8 men on the court.

Driving into work today I couldn't help but think of the drop off at Purdue now that Edey is gone. They could go from No.1 in the country to maybe not making the tournament next year. Anything can happen, but he scored more than half of Purdues points last night. That type of talent can't be replicated. At least not in one season.

I think I disagree with this, they lost Ivey (a lottery pick) and became even better, so I’m confident that they’ll find a way to get it done again. Might not be a 1 seed, but still think they’ll safely be in the top 25 if not top 15 by the end of the year. Sure they don’t necessarily have a top talent to fill the void like Edey did post Jaden, but they have talent where they’re gonna play more of a team game and I think Painter is a great x’s and o’s coach where he’s going to dial up some great sets that spreads the wealth. Also project Braden to make another jump and be at least 2nd team All American

They need to eliminate one and dones at the NCAA level. However, there should remain a loophole in the g-league where players coming out of high school and want to play in the g-league enter the g-league draft and teams who pick them and develop them get compensated when by getting a percentage of their professional teams cap ceiling increased when the player is drafted to the NBA. Games scoring into the 120's 130's are absurd, that used to be what the allstar game score when I was a kid in the 2000's. Just not a lot to like honestly, college is far superior. Watching the Jordan doc 4 years ago put all this in perspective, that was entertaining Man's game basketball. I'll *maybe* tune in to the playoffs by conference final time when teams finally start trying. Glad you like it though, obviously there's still a market for today's game and they can use all the viewers they can get.
