A guy with a camera at a police station might be worthy of talking to. But those circumstances, alone, do not give rise to reasonable suspicion of the commission of a criminal offense, and to that extent any search or deprivation of liberty is unlawful. Ask questions, sure. Assess the situation. Use the common sense that we all hope you needed to demonstrate in order to get the job in the first place. This was a test and you failed. It's important because it demonstrates that these officers are reactionary, not exercising good judgment and not knowledgable or conscientious about the law, and we are all at risk of violations of our rights while we have a police service which operates in this manner.

Did she actually say they have to put people in cuffs because they don't know who they are? That first thug simply rushed up into your face aggressively then slapped you in cuffs when you asked him to step back. Please read this: At the time of your detention it was IMPOSSIBLE for the Officer to have built any reasonable grounds for your detention and search considering he declared the detention within 10 seconds of having made contact with you. It appears that he had already made his mind up what he was going to do regardless of what you said and he clearly went down this route to punish you for asking him to stay back.

We'd like to think that everyone learned something from this. Whilst you were talking to her the others were trying to get their story/act together regarding which act they were to use in the search.
