My wife and I were on a trip to Ireland to bring in the new year of 2016. We ended up staying an extra week, we were in a restaurant and I recognised Colin sitting with friends and sent the table a bottle of wine. He came over, shook our hands and was totally charming. When we asked for our bill, we were told Mr Vercombe had taken care of it. A short time later he was gone. RIP Colin and thank you.

Collin Vearncombe alias Black. Now there is artist that I will never forget. Wonderful life is true brilliant song. It's a song with a very ironic meaning. This song stuck to me back then like it's sticking to my now. He sings this song and it is as if you are feeling that same loneliness. Feelings of utterly being left alone. A brilliant song. He was in a class of his own.

Ты пробовал хоть раз взять и бросить живую летучую мышь на сцену ,да чтоб она не взлетела ,как это обычно бывает,а упала к ногам великого Оззи , а потом лежала и ждала пока ей откусят голову ? Я даже в то время, когда узнал об этом, подумал ,что мышка вряд-ли была живой , или мертвая или игрушечная . А уж спустя столько лет , можно придумывать разные легенды . Оззи концерт продолжил , если что .

I was lonely and a new immigrant to a country which I had no friends or family but had to immigrate to at a young age for my life and other circumstances in 1986…. This song was my soulmate and kept me going! So sad and reminds me of those tough days in my life. He left us too early 😢

I am happy to hear you pulled through.😊 It is a melancholic song but at the same time it is uplifting. After the darkness comes the light. I think I have heard that Colin Verncombe wrote this when he was having a hard time earlier in his career. I was very sad to hear of his passing in 2016. So many singers and actors died that year. RIP Colin.

So many years after, here I am, out to sea again ... I was 11 years old when this song camed out and just loved it on the first hearing. Although there are some people claiming that there some suicidal elements in this song, for me it's a glorification of life. Also this song helped me overcome some difficult moments during my adolescence ... more times. ... and later ... also more times. Thank you and rest in peace Colin. 🙏
