Brilliant. This is now a regular feature of my week. Who’d have thought listening to 5 middle aged men talking about car seats would be this good. Brings back a lot of memories. Thank you so much. Keep up the great work. I’m just off to checkout the Spotify playlist…

Senna story - a former colleague was working for Customs at (I think) Inverness airport when a private jet landed to refuel en route from Canada to Switzerland. The pilot came into the wee office and was chatting away to my colleague and mentioned his passenger was Ayrton Senna. As far as my colleague was concerned, this was God. The pilot brought Ayrton in to say hello and my colleague only spoke to him briefly but he asked what Ayrton's best racing moment was. No question, qualifying at Monaco in 88.

Ayrton Senna drove the rally cars at Phil Price Rally School near Knighton in Mid Wales. Phil is sadly no longer with us either, but the photos from that day still adorn the walls of the cabin, and from my time spent there in Phil's company it was quite apparent that he was very proud of having shared that experience with Ayrton.

In my late teens/ early driving years, it is a near miracle that I managed to survive late evening blasts along country lanes in my mum's Fiesta 1.1 litre, goaded on by Telegraph Road blasting out as loudly as the slightly modified stereo could take - magic!

I believe what you described as the ideal motoring movie with an old racer taking a younger one under his wing for that important victory is essentially the plot of the Pixar film "Cars"

Totally with Harris on the late 80's Porsche sports seats. I had them in a 944S2 and they are still the best seats I've ever had in a car. Weirdly the worst seats I ever used were the Recaro's in the Rover 800 Vitesse my first ever boss had. They were so uncomfortable and not that supportive.

Regarding seats, I think both Saab and Volvo should be mentioned. And it was technical seats as Sweden has been far ahead in research on ergonomics, and these seats were heavily influenced by that ❤

Best seat I have seaten is Tillett. It has perfect posture and has good grip of the torso but does not bend your shoulders inwards which immediately feels claustrofobic and back breaking for big strong guy. But best looking are for sure those that Sabelt makes for Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg etc... their OEM seats are just killer looking. I have not had possibility to sit.

@Chris (Cooper), its was RS2000 (not RS200) that Doyle drove....very different thing. I am sure you know this on reflection - slip of the tongue. Agreed....Recaro are the best...from my Ford days (RS2000 roadcars, and Rally car days....then my BMW Dealership days where the Recaro option was invariably ticked. Also the Scheel seats of the E9 3.0 CSL. Aesthetically gorgeous in their simplicity and effectiveness. I still love the 1966 film Grand Prix....for all its naivety, it reflects a glamorous/dangerous era, and Rush was a tear jerker, but you are right Chris )Harris)....difficult to highlight a great motorsport film. The Eclat didn't have a Renault engine...You are thinking of the Europa surely? Never 'got' the Senna fandom thing....lost on me. (Heretic). Personally Neil, I cheered when Schumacher took-out Hill.....sorry.

This is somewhat of a trick answer but the most comfortable seats are the air seats in trucks or tractors, ride like clouds and genuinely no back pains after being in them all day.

Definetly Recaro seats on an airplane adds to the joy of traveling and excitement. In cars they are THE best, period. Ford versus Ferrari, I watched on my way to Haneda Japan from Heathrow and loved it. Not because it's very precise about the action and the cars, but had great characters and penances the real theme there, which is a man's dream and is revenge.

I hear everything they are saying about this F1 film and fear they may be correct. However, if you were to watch "Moneyball" (a Brad Pitt film production) you can see that he has a great understanding of sport and what makes that sport special to hardcore fans whilst telling a story riveting and entertaining enough for those who have no interest in baseball. It's a wonderful film, only based in part around a true story of the Oakland A's remarkable 2002 season where they competed with the big boys on a fraction of their budget. If you havn't already, go and watch it. Also a very good example of a great film with Pitt acting as a mentor (sort of) to his understudy..

Best car sticker/sun strip. Best number plate. Best breakdown story. Best cylinder firing order. What was the last car you had to double de-clutch in. Best experience sat on a car roof. Have you ever bothered with all season tyres in UK. Will EV adoption get above about 33% which is approximately the number of two or more car homes and if not what are OEMs going to do when their sales drop 70% because they are forced to make a product hardly anyone is buying

The single biggest problem with motorsport movies is they're going "and here we are at Kyalami going through Barbecue" and I'm always "no you're not, this is Oulton Park, and the scene you say was at the Nurburgring, was just Clay Hill, so shut up". Or it cuts from them going through Eau Rouge to Blanchimont to Les Combes to La Source and then the Bus stop. ARGH.

It's interesting the point you raise about motor racing movies but feel that Top Gun is great. As someone who grew up living on Air Force bases no movie meets my expectations - I've seen military aircraft do things that are utterly beguiling - therefore you have to ask who is the target audience and I'd say an F1 movie is probably not for us geeks. I think you also touched on a critical element to be successful it must contain the human story - that's what Rush did and Ferrari vs Ford.

Boxing fans love Rocky because they're aren't enough good rivalries in boxing. Yes they're are some, but not many to really stir the interest of nations. Plus the modern day boxer does 1 fight per year... Imagine if Lewis Hamilton only had to race once a year... F1 does have great rivalries and great stories. Loved Rush and although flawed I did like Ford v Ferrari. But a fictional F1 film, I think will flop..
