This is really informative. I recently realized I could buy 4 at a time of the French one at my local second hand stores. My parents always had this pattern at the table for nice dinners and I felt sentimental about them, so purchased 8 of the champagne glasses for less than 8 dollars Canadian. It's the first crystal I've ever purchased and I think I might be hooked. Who knew lead was addictive?

Just stumbled onto this video, I have a whole set of the crystal d'arques that my mother had to purchase in the 80s to fill her china hutch that got passed to me. I was just seeing if they are worth even listing. Haven't had any luck on FB marketplace, maybe Craigslist that's where I sold the hutch. Thanks

I just inherited a bunch of glass/crystal from my great aunt and I plan on keeping them, but I was curious if it was in fact crystal or not. Seems like they are!

Be sure to get the old if you want lead crystal. The newer Dynamax, I think they call it, is not pretty.

Lead crystal the shape or that it contains lead? and how do you know if it contains lead?

I might be wrong, because I'm new to this hobby, but you might be able to tell with a couple tricks. 1) hold the glass up to the light, you should be able to see a spectrum or little rainbows as the light refracts through the pattern of the glass. 2) give the glass a tap or a flick with your nail. If it's rings like a bell it's crystal. If it's just glass it will make a dull sound that doesn't ring out. 3) crystal truly is heavier. I picked up a pickle dish the other day and it immediately struck me how heavy it was in relation to its size, it's a dead giveaway. Like I said, I could be wrong. But this is what I've gathered from other sources. There are lots of videos here on KZfaq explaining ways to tell the difference. Good luck!

Hi I bought a storage unit that has crystal glasses. How do I know how much they are worth? They do have a ring bell sound when I fick it with my finger nail 😅
