Great overview of Swamp Thing collections. There is also an omnibus called Neil Gaiman's Midnight Days that has a few uncollected Swamp Thing stories, including an amazing one written by Gaiman and illustrated by Bissette and Totleben! I highly recommend it.

I just grabbed the Bronze Age Swamp Thing and that entire book is amazing even Martin Pasko’s Pre Alan Moore Saga run very good. I’m glad that you mentioned the smell of the Absolute Swamp Thing because it is the best smelling book I’ve ever had besides an old 1950’s war book.

Swamp Thing and Daredevil are 2 of the most consistent comics of all time. Nice collection

Absolutely loved this video, and after watching and comparing what was available on the DC universe app I made the decision to purchase my first Omnibus. I bought the bronze age omnibus off of amazon for $60 even tho it looks like its waiting on a reprint and will not ship until June. Cant wait to dive into more swamp thing after getting hooked on the new 52 snyder run!

Alan Moore’s run is legendary. I love it. Also issue 20 is in the DC Black Label version of the tpb.

I just ordered Nancy’s and the New 52 omnis… The Alan Moore absolutes really got me invested in Swamp Thing. I had no idea there are more works out there. I hope they also get collected in omnibus or absolute formats.

This is a super useful video, thank you. I actually just picked up the Snyder deluxe edition, and I completely agree about the Millar run getting an OHC/omni. But more than anything, I would love to see DC bring the title back as a prestige creator project. There is so much talent in comics right now, it’s a crime we don’t have a modern ongoing that strives to be an iconic period for the character.

Just a question of curiosity, do you have any preference or opinion on the type of paper comics are printed on? I've mostly noticed that there are two main ones. There's a more standard type of paper that yellows like regular books and then there is the more glossier, magazine type of paper. I mostly ask because with the Alan Moore run, the older tpb have the paper that's more prone to yellowing and the newer ones are printed on the glossier paper. I honestly prefer to read comics on the older paper as I feel like it plays into the color and tone of the book more so than printing it on the glossier page. Just curious if you had any thoughts on it!

Someone please help me, I’m trying to figure this out but I’m really confused and fairly new to comics so please don’t judge me, but you start reading Alan Moore’s run from issue 20 or 21 and than go from there??? What happened to the other 19-20 issues? Does it connect to the story like do you have to read them (1-20)? in order to understand like the first book which has 21-27? Please help I am so confused and lost and really want to read about the character? But idk if I have to read the first 20 or not

Should I blind buy the Nancy Collins Omni? Im on the fence between that one or Hellblazer by Ennis, which I haven't read either

Great guide, there were a couple books in there that I wasn't aware of (Roots specifically). I'd also love to see Soule's run get the oversized treatment (it could even be an omnibus even though it wouldn't be a monster), but something to go along with the Snyder/Paquette OHC would be awesome.

Mark Millar's Swamp Thing was awful IMO. He completely changed everything for the worse. He said later that Swamp Thing was the boringest character he ever worked on. It's no coincidence the series ended after him.

Read the Collins’ Omnibus after Near Mint Condition did a video on it. I thought it was terrible. I don’t see what others see in it honestly. Compared to the Bronze Age stuff, it’s bad. Compared to Alan Moore’s run, it’s a joke. It’s probably one of the most beautiful omnibuses ever printed, just a shame that such a lovely design is wasted on such an awful story. I would like to see the Rick Veitch run collected in an omnibus.

How can you appreciate something like Saga of Swamp thing, and then go back to japanese manga story telling? Its 2022 and japan still doesnt understand how story telling works and dont tell me you like the manga art, its all the same.
