Collected canter lays the foundation for the upper levels, there is a pivotal point in training where an awesome collected canter will enable all of your upper level movement to either shine in the spot light or fall to pieces in front of a heavy judge. With the possibility of ending catastrophic disappointment spending some time developing an amazing quality collected canter is essential to the development of any horse.
In this video, filmed at the Robert Dover Horsemastership Program in Wellington Florida, Olympian Debbie McDonald works through the pieces of how to collect, engage and develop a stronger more fluid collected canter.

I don't like how the rider leans back so far, but I appreciate how this trainer is so amazing to make the team look and work better with her skilled attention and perfect words. She is a gifted teacher.

Nice way Debbie! 👍 The horse is poor straightened, an has less of drive for such an high educated horse.😆 And even the switching back of the horse drives me crazy... 😶Sorry permeability is missing. Nice horse with ambitious rider tough.

The horses his backhand is not under the horse. The bar and snuffelen works to hard without any results. The driver has to learn to sit.

Ya this rider is leaning back too much, perhaps up those stirrups just a minute bit and that horse needs some impulsion. It’s almost tripling.
