I was born and raised in the College Station area. I am 5 minutes from the campus. Texas A&M used to be an all male university and they won’t let that go. That’s why they have yell leaders. I go to the sporting events and I don’t get it. They have club cheer but the girls can’t cheer at football and basketball game because of “tradition”. 🙄. I didn’t grad from A&M I graduated from Sam Houston State

LAMO as an aggie, i gotta say you coulda found way worse. hearing the midnight yell practice takes me back to a more fun, much more stupid time in my life lol. but fo real, you have thousands of people yelling "A-G-G-I-E-S GIG EM AGGIES AY WHOOOOP!" that doesn't seem that crazy. we were one of the (if not THE) loudest crowds to play against at the time. I remember everybody cupping their hands and yelling their ass off at the opposing offense every time they lined up. just hoping they would have to call a time out because they couldn't hear (they often did). i think it's dope actually (obviously biased). but how is a weird dancing person being used as a drum leader so mind blowingly cringe?

You made a disparaging video of a bunch of teen college kids going out and doing a bunch of silly college chants? Folks, to be clear, this thing they call “yell practice” is nearly 100% college kids in the stadium at midnight. It’s not serious. It’s the kids attending the school, that are all in heat, mostly looking for a reason to go out and find a mate, or make new friends, or make some drunken memories. I have some doubts the creep that made this video ever went to college. I also have some suspicions that he has no friends and he connects with sour people that have no friends. With all that said, if you’re an adult and you’re not an Aggie, definitely don’t go to this thing. I’m telling you flat out it’s young animals in heat, everywhere.

I'm a Texas Longhorn, graduated from UT 1985. The aggies are an odd subculture living in a past age. I suggest you google, 'aggie jokes'. Did you know they named their Annual the Longhorn(trolling) in 1902 when they beat the Horns for the first time in football? After 40 years, an aggie asked why and the name was changed. That's the aggies. It's easier to just laugh.

Aggies have yells that go back to when it was an all-male school, and Yell Leaders, who don't use megaphones. All of the hand-signals are to tell the folks on three decks what the next yell is, and keep us together on the timing. "Pass it back," means to show the people behind you in the stands the hand-signal (some just name the yell). Do you know any other school which has enough spirit to get tens of thousands of people to show up before a home game for a Midnight Yell Practice? We know we are different, and proud of it. But there are also at least six "101 Aggie Jokes" books. And the joke, "A-G-G-I-E-S!" "What's that spell?" We get it, "From the outside looking in, you can't understand it. From the inside looking out, we can't explain it." Come to one of our games and see how friendly and wonderful Aggies are. "Some may boast of prowess bold Of the schools they think so grand But there’s a spirit can ne’er be told It’s the Spirit of Aggieland."
