That school is the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley which is located right by the US-Mexico border. UTRGV recently purchased their football stadium, is expected to have some of the best facilities at the FCS level, and just signed their first recruiting class this past recruiting cycle. This is the story of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Football. This is the story of Texas’s newest college football program.

Still, can they recruit well and compete on the FCS level? I mean SDSU and NDSU still rule FCS and very few programs outside of that have the same success.

@@PlaylistProleteriatWith them being in Texas, I think they can be pretty good in the recruiting aspect, definitely gonna take some time before they are super competitive like an NDSU or SDSU or the Montanas

Yeah man I'm excited about this. As a former CFB player/coach and avid CFB fan. I love seeing the overall process. I want to attend a game. I'm not even a fan, alum or have any ties to UT-Rio Grande Valley Univ. UT Pan American/UT Brownsville.

Best Advice- AVOID 11 AM, 2:30 PM Kick Off games in the RGV. Tailgating would be downright dangerous August-October. Officials will get heat stroke. Actually, just Ban day time games all together in the valley.

I know it’s not a very popular school but it would be awesome to see a Tennessee Tech video. They are planning to move to the sunbelt after upgrading their stadium. Go Golden Eagles!!!

I knew the head coaches son, his name was Tyler Bush. His dad coached at Seguin, then went to Canon, and obviously now is at UTRGV. It’s kinda cool to see.

Probably be as good as UTEP. It would be cool if they joined Conference USA. Sam Houston, UTEP and UTRGV in the same conference would be good for the conference.

Their AD Chasse Conque, was the AD at my hometown team, Little Rock Trojans. He was AMAZING, but the idiot Razorback admins blocked his attempts at starting football, and then forced him to hire a terrible basketball coach (and Arkansas alum) which was the last straw. I miss him terribly,

@@konstantinpobedonotsev5589 Wally is a friggin cancer. They don't want football at UALR simply because it'd create second recruiting void in the state for them. ASU owns the NEA and the upper Delta. They can't do anything about ASU, but there was no way they'd allow a school in their system to play in Little Rock. They'd have to compete with the city school in a place where people are much more loyal to the Rock than to the U of A. Arkansas is a bully. A baseball school that thinks it's special. ASU has more bowl appearances in the last decade. UAPB has a better record. It's a joke of a school.

I really don't have an opinion about this, other than I find this development interesting at least. If UTRGV plans on being a solid hub for collegiate sports, whether for FCS or FBS in the future, then they need a foundation in place. It looks like they're acting the part.

Meh. I'm happy for a part of Texas that has traditionally been an afterthought. But this area also doesn't usually generate a lot of football talent. I guess time will tell. Of course I'm thinking 5A and 6A football talent. They'll have to bring in players. Where is their NIL money coming from?

I was raised in South Texas and also North Texas. What I loved about Denton , TX we had UNT and I loved catching some games from time to time, now fast forward 30 odd years later and i'm presently living in Edinburg and this is some exciting news and can't wait for the energy to explode in south tx from the football gods,, puro 956!

Kennesaw State in Georgia started as an FCS school in 2015. Making the jump to FBS in 2024.

Very similar thing out here in California. All but one of the UC schools are varying shades of Blue & Gold. Here are the UCs that play football; Cal - Berkeley Blue/California Gold UCLA - UCLA Blue/UCLA Gold UC Davis - Aggie Blue/Gold Non-Football Schools; UC Irvine - Blue/Gold UC Merced - Royal Blue/Gold UC Riverside - Sky Blue/Gold UC San Diego - Navy Blue/Yellow UC Santa Barbara - Navy Blue/Gold UC Santa Cruz - Blue/Gold Exception to the trend; UC San Francisco - Navy Blue/Sky Blue

All University of Texas system school use some variation of orange and white per system rules. Sec. 2 Official Colors. The official colors for the U. T. System shall be orange and white; provided, however, that an institution may adopt one additional color to be used in connection with athletic and other activities of the institution when approved by the Board of Regents upon recommendation of the president of the institution, the appropriate Executive Vice Chancellor, and the Chancellor.

I believe UT mandates them to use some variation of orange. Only Stephen F Austin can retain their purple due to the university's origin.

Which is part of the reason the top Texas schools don’t accomplish as much as they should. State of Alabama has 2 Power programs and only half a dozen lower level. Texas has 6 power 4 schools and 10+ lower level programs. Dividing up the talent amongst 10+ more programs even in a larger state makes a difference
