It's not a lie. You do get more experience, and the most important thing you get is a chance to learn something about yourself. The problem is that majority of people never learn, so they repeate the same mistakes expecting that something will change. Also shame, guilt, regret, hurt, pain are all the things you can't avoid in life. If you wanna live a good life you will go trought all those emotions, and state of mind. A broken heart isn't that bad, you won't heal from it only if you don't want to.
