College Move Out Dumpster Dive Part 3! So much stuff saved!

College move out dumpsters have been exhausting. Not only did we pull stuff out of the dumpsters we had to clean and sanitize so much. Washing sheets, blankets and cloths is time consuming. Luckily all of the dishsoap and detergent was saved from dumpsters also. That saves us so much money as well. It is 3am on Sunday and I am barely uploading this video to be aired at 9am CST. We had our yard sale today and made a lot of money! Everything that was left over that was donatable was delivered to Bread and Blankets. So much good clothes, shoes, blankets, sheets, food, toiletries etc that will get used by people who need them. It almost all got sent to the Landfill. People are so wasteful. :/

We are a Married couple who have been salvaging, restoring, saving food, electronics, toys, furniture and anything that is able to be saved from dumpsters before filling landfills. People dump so much good into landfills it's just crazy. We go out and check random dumpsters at random times to see what we can save, reuse, recycle and share. We also like to do bulky item pickup saves. We have been doing this for several years together and decided to post our passion on KZfaq.

Awww you should definitely try to throw it in since you're getting all that stuff for free it's kinda like paying for it lol but I do understand being worn out it can be exhausting going through all that stuff. My favorite part is watching someone clean up a mess they didn't make and I know y'all do when you can. 😊🙏 Prayers for many blessings.

We had just left a dumpster at other side of the campus and I was exhausted by then. That was a hysterical laugh like omg 😱 I just can’t and was about to die! It was just too much haha

Still you should have cleaned it up. I agree with the others! You had enough energy to load the stuff you were keeping! That's a real shame. Maybe this diving isn't for you!

haha 😜 Maybe it isn't for me. But I do what I can. I'm not a spring chicken 😁. I am actually older than I look and Dumpster Diving is just a hobby I share with my wife. The real shame is that kids are so disrespectful and leave such a mess and are wasteful. I guess they expect their parents to clean up after them. Some people are just entitled... meh 😢🐸

The waste at colleges across the country after graduation is horrendous. With so many in need, it's painful to see so much go to the landfill. Hurrah to you both for saving as much as you can!!

This is the generation screaming at other generations that we are filling the landfills. Where are these kids recycling? Where are their donations? As my mother would say " Practice what you preach." They didn't even take their clothes, shoes, freaking door mats. Really sad.

You should get yourself one of those small gardening rigs you can chat boxes and bags with it pulled in towards you the Great also don't worry about the trash they have stabbed come around and pick it up that comes around and picks up the stuff happy dumpster diving that's gardening rakes they're small and good for grabbing also that's staff will pick up the trash

We probably should have saved that rug. Sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed with all the things we can save and give a home without much cleaning vs something we will need to sanitize etc the hardest part of getting things cleaned is storing it until we have time to clean. 😞🐸

Hey my Favorite Hoppers. Great saves. Such a sin that these kids do not know to donate or recycle. Then their parents can buy all new next year. I worked 2 jobs, full class schedule and ate a ton of Peanut butter and white bread. Paid back as I went and had only minimal payback when finished. My parents were if you want it pay for it!!!!!! I like when couples dumpster dive together. It makes the videos more fun for me. I would like your better if you could edit parts that don't have any real content,ie, walking to your vehicle, ALL of the dumpsters that you didn't find anything in. Idk if your videos have to be a certain length or not but that stuff isn't fun and takes up too much of the video. Keep up the fun parts though. Thanks for what you do.

We sanitize our hands pretty well after each dive. Thanks to the generous donation from CVS we have a ton of sanitizer. By donation I mean they tossed a lot in their dumpster a while back 😁🐸

I think it’s great that you’re saving all this stuff from the landfill, but I would definitely recommend that you wear gloves because you don’t know what’s in these dumpsters. Be safe.

I'm 74. I only check 2 indoor dumpsters near O'Hare airport. I've found art supplies, books, brand new appliances, and more. I've looked in dumpsters for over 50 years. Tina, Al's wife

I am a 53 year grand mom raising my granddaughter since her birth. We are currently living in a homeless shelter so what you guys are doing really means a lot to me and I know your helping so many people. I see that you are finding a lot of things in the trash those individual doormats or little rugs all you got to do is get them together and you can take them and put them in the washing machine at the laundromat on low dry it on low and donate stuff like that to the shelter where the animals are so they can have a pad to lay on or you can get crafty and actually make a bed bed pillow for the pets or also stable to a pole for the cats use your mind get creative you can really do a lot of things so don't turn them away think outside the box

Please tell me you at least picked up some of the trashbags at the first stop. The security guard will remember you if you didn't and may run you off. Its all about making it look nicer than when you got there. Glad you could save so much from the landfill!

Yes the first dumpster wasn’t as bad as this one. We were at the first dumpster for about 2hrs. I didn’t expect this next one to be that ridiculous. I guess since that one was in the middle it was easier for kids to dump. 😕🐸

That was from the previous dumpster on the other side of the campus. 2hrs at the first one which was the video from last week. The real trooper is Mrs Hopper who has several autoimmune diseases and bad kidneys. 😞🐸 my only excuse is I’m a big out of shape old nerd haha 🤣

We some clothes, we donate regular usable clothes to local non-profits and we sell the higher end non essential things. 😉🐸 it’s a win win win win

It would be very interesting, just as a matter of reference, to take a large dumpster like this one, and go through ALL of the trash as a project. Sort it piece by piece, (wearing protective gear of course), and pull out recyclables, reusable bags, what can be donated or sold, and see what really ends up going to the landfill versus what was repurposed, reused or donated. Just to show our level of waste and low level of consideration for the environment. Like a sociology project or environmental project-even an economic one like ( How much money can you make from the dumpster!) Just my rambling thoughts as I watch.

We had just finished at another rolloff dumpster where I cleaned up the area and nearly filled the van with bags of clothes and baskets full of stuff. All those bags are filled with half eaten food from their fridges and whatever else they could fit in the bag. Most likely wheeled over. It was a big nope from me. Those bags were too heavy and even if I were able to pick it up over my head to toss in the dumpster the bags would have busted and trash would be everywhere.

Yes! Mrs Hopper used to work for a few hotel chains and child protective services so she has been trained in identifying things like that. We never hop in dumpsters we suspect have anything in it with bedbugs and def would not pull anything out of it either. 😁🐸
