I was also a LA to SD college student and I have now settled here after finishing grad school! I absolutely love SD and I think the best college memories I have had to do with food. Take the family to Tacos El Gordo, Phil's BBQ, and Pho Cow Cali (my favorite Pho place!). There are so many sights to see here and Balboa Park is such a nice touristy spot, even for me. And for Colie, the best college food experience is going to Vallarta's with friends at 3 AM after a tiring school/club/other activities day. Wishing the Laeno Family the best of time staying and visiting SD!

I am giung into my third year of college in August. I have been watcing Colie for many years and as soon as I heard about the family channel I started watching it!! My biggest advice for Colie is like Noel said live your best life, college is supposed to be fun. Make a lot of friends, stay ontop of your school work because once you get behind it is so hard to catch back up. Since you are going to be so close to home and you have not spent this much time away from your parents try to go home as much as possible. Utilize everything the campus has to offer, but also make sure to have time to your self to keep yourself in a good mental state because college can be stressful at times. Overall I think you will love it, and I can't wait to see more college content!!

Advice for college: truly enjoy it! It goes by so fast. 4 years seems like a long time, but it goes by in a blink of an eye. Make new friends, try new things, and find yourself. This portion of your life is where you truly will get to know yourself in a different way. New environment and new influences that you get to navigate on your own. It’s the BEST chapter of life yet. Aww this is so crazy! I have been watching Coile since her 8th grade year, and this is so emotional to think about!! also you guys willing to move out there for her is so sweet when I went to college my parents stayed back and it was so hard to say goodbye. I am still in school, big advice I would tell myself would be remember college is what you make it, so go in with a good mind set, and take care of you because no one can like you can.

I just finished up my first year of college - moved from Ohio to Denver, CO! i made my decision last minute - giving my family & friends zero time to process any of it (& honestly myself too). you will be SO excited to start new and you’ll feel excited to be moved in. then, next you’ll be sobbing and wanting it to end. i say this to say: let yourself feel ALL of those emotions. they work together intricately, and truly - they will be beneficial eventually for your college experience. don’t beat yourself up if your roommate isn’t homesick at all and you’re struggling because of it - everyone processes differently there and that’s just that. i know i personally got super worked up on how others were handling it and got upset with myself if i felt as if i were struggling! college, especially your first year, is such a time for YOU and you will learn so much about yourself. let yourself GO, have fun, study a little bit too 😂 your first year is bittersweet, fun, exciting, busy, draining, and everything in between. you’ve got this Colie!! & linda and noel - you’ll be okay too. it’s so good to cry and be proud of the amazing daughter you’ve raised. you have raised one amazing young women and you should pay yourselves on the back 🫶 also EDIT: i was dead set on a university, had almost a full ride at a pretty prestigious university much closer to home. i toured the college i go to know with literally ZERO intention on coming here or, honestly, even encouraging the thought of attending. i came to tour for 2 reasons and that was it: getting to visit a new state & getting out of school for a few days. that was IT. i stepped foot on campus and truly, just felt so right and at home - and i hadn’t even really seen any part of campus or student life. 🤍

Grew up always visiting my grandparents in San Diego!! I love the area so much and there's truly so much to explore. The Del Mar fair in the summer is super fun, La Jolla is great snorkeling, and all of the little suburbs around San Diego county are pretty nice! Don't be afraid to explore outside of San Diego City!!! There's great stuff out there
