Sleepovers are one of the reasons I didn't accept that I was gay for so long. Because the girls could say all kinds of dirty/private personal things about boys or themselves but the second one of our friends casually asked if any of us had ever wondered what it'd be like to kiss another girl she got a chorus of "ewwww"s and basically got shunned by the group for good after that.

Obviously it happens at different ages for different people, I was 14 when I figured out my sexuality and got a girlfriend and was happy with who I was. I think 22 is specific to her.

I spent most of my time at sleepovers trying to avoid anything that might make it look like I was hitting on, or attracted to or interested in any of my friends because I thought they would hate me if they found out that I had these weird feelings that it didn't seem like any of them had.

This is true, I'm 24 (from Moscow) and I'm only findings myself, my happiness and my people now. But that's a good thing. Now I even have some romantic life, I wasn't sure I ever will - now I understand that of course I would, I just needed to make it to certain age (and to my people and to knowing myself) alive. As a child I though I just wasn't ment to be happy, understood or not alone - turns out it's just a queer thing (and some trauma), and my time was always going to come then it was going to come. Some meetings, news and events that were very revealing about myself or what I can do or where I can find help, needed to happen in their time - tho I wish this information was providd to kids, and some day it hopefully will be. I also had to grow and legally age to be able to take control of my life and responsibility for it. I needed time to do some mental healing, to reach out for help and for support of community. And I still have some hard decisions ahead, but it does get better, I can see it now, it already got so much better 💛🤍💜🖤
