I prefer JP version cause I grew up playing that one, but I wont lie US version can still slap from time to time

JP soundtrack is peak sonic music, US soundtrack is cool and atmospheric, sorta reminding me of Ferngully

Okay, never noticed the printer sample in this song before just now. That's seriously sick if that's what it is, since one of the major themes of this game is Robotonik's machines taking over the natural world, of course you'd hear something mechanical droning like that throughout the song.

I remember I downloaded a zip file that contained all the samples used in both sonic CD soundtracks, and this sound definitely sounds like a printer when isolated and adjusted back to the original pitch.

Idunno, I like both soundtrack variants CD offers, of course big majority opting for the JP/EU side due to its more ambiental and upbeat rhythm compared to the stages you play in. Still, don't disregard the US side.
