The similar thinking and questions what Mr. Bhanu Pratap Mehtha and Mr. Karan Thapar were running in to my minds. They have dispelled all the issues in this Debate gives me immense satisfaction. Unfortunately, the Actions of Courts is not satisfactory what the Right Minded people expect to act which the Courts should have been. This is a worrying factor about the present situation of Courts. The Judges in High Courts and Supreme Court complicating with more doubts and question rather taking up matters and finding Solutions is the most worrying Factor. People's Welfare and well being should be the Top priority. Ofcourse, The Laws are made for the People's welfare and safeguard from Criminals, Politicians,Terrorists and other Evil elements. People have immense faith in the Judicial System of this Country. But, Courts must raise above the Political compulsions to Deliver Justice.

I do have a lot of faith in this great country of mine, which is and remains one of the greatest civilizations on earth. I'm hopeful that we will emerge out of this. Though I must admit that these have been difficult days. I work as an Assistant Professor, teach English, at a University called Jamia Millia Islamia. As "religion" is/has become a marker in recent discourse, I was born a half Parsi and a half Shia Muslim and I studied in Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, a school in New Delhi, which was founded by the great K. M. Munshi, with fellow school friends from all walks of life. On Fridays in school, we had the Sardharma prayer too. I'm not even criticizing the government exactly as I write this, with my official affiliation too. I'm only making my anguish as a citizen clear. I would also like to state here that the great Mahatma, Mahatma Gandhi, had said that he would go about begging with a bowl if Jamia faced financial troubles, which it did in its long history. Jamia was founded at Mahatma Gandhiji's call to found an Indian system of education as against Aligarh Muslim University, which was British education model. Jamia has a Balak Mata Kendra, we have a nursery, we have a school, we have BA students, we run postgraduate courses, we have PhD; we do have Engineering, we have the Dental Faculty... When 1947 took place, teachers from Jamia went to the camps, imparting life skills to the ravaged people. A friend of my father, his father-in-law was a "friend" of Jamia; he took an oath to teach in Jamia till his retirement or till he could, taking no money at all as his salary. Jamia had these committed teachers in its history, who took such oaths. This is the history we come from. Jamia remains one of the most secular institutions that I have known. As a maternal Parsi and as a paternal Shia Muslim-- minority in Jamia in both ways-- I don't think I could say I have found instances of personal vilification against me. My anguish is against a lot of media outlets (let's forget the political class) which seem to have conveniently forgotten the work that we do everyday and the work that we have done. Jamia Millia Islamia University does not deserve bad publicity at all. As it is, we do not always get good publicity. Virender Sehwag was one of our students. So, was Gagan Ajeet Singh. I saw this in front of my eyes as a Faculty here. My thoughts. Sorry for this long post. Thank you for listening. Sorry if I have offended anyone with my rational, logical thoughts. Best wishes and blessings to everyone.

I hate that you're right :( And might I add, demonitisation was the largest assault on property rights in the history of free India. When I heard about it, being marketed as a blanket solution for black money I thought it was a big joke. What makes a piece of money black is the transaction not the denomination. It's basic knowledge.

Veritas It is really sad that even “tolerant” Indians have been totally brainwashed by successive Indian governments (both congress and BJP) to hate Pakistanis and they have no clue whatsoever of ground realities. Fascism sweeping through India is irreversible and has always been festering in Indian Hindu society dating back ~150 years. Nazi inspired Muslim-hating RSS was formed by extremist Hindus before creation of Pakistan (~1928). Rather than drawing false parallel to Pakistan based on propaganda we have internalized, Indians should be worried about their own mess, a fascist train wreck moving towards an eventual disaster. Fascism has never ended well for fascists (historical fact) and time to acknowledge it rather than living in a fantasy world.
@veritas11764 жыл бұрын
@@AM-te8lk There is no disagreement about the prevailing fascism in India... the allusion to Pakistan is merely repeating what their (BJP/RSS) position appears to be i.e. to make India a Hindu rashtra (nation). It seems like you're arguing that Pakistan is not fascist (like the RSS et al). TBH, may be not, but definitely it is not the model that India (constitutionally & otherwise) seeks to model. Indian Muslims rejected the idea of a Muslim Pakistan. And of course they will reject the idea of Hindu Pakistan. Indian Muslims are not brainwashed or anything re: Pakistan. Indian Muslims have, however, been accused of being Pakistani (or Pakistani supporters et al) & have to prove their Indianness time and again. This does cause Indian Muslims to not look favorably either .. and they are tired of this. As the demonstrations show vividly, Indian Muslims are trying to assert their own unique identity, proudly and unapologetically - for the very first time. It is a proud moment.
@veritas11763 жыл бұрын
@private Sir, While India is definitely fraught with numerous issues, Pakistan is NOT the model that Indian Muslims aspire to...
@veritas11763 жыл бұрын
@private Please get off the high horse... Pakistan - by any objective measure - is a woefully pathetic state, and certainly one that Indian Muslims have no illusions about. Notwithstanding any Indian government propaganda - which admittedly, there is quite a lot of (not unlike what happens on the Pakistan side ..with totally made up narratives). For all the challenges in India, Indian Muslims have risen to the highest levels in literally every field. Indian Muslims do NOT need any support, sympathy - covert or overt - from Pakistan!

Exactly we need a refugee law which encompasses every community. Refugees are a worldwide problem and we need a comprehensive law to deal with their situation and not some narrow minded amendment to the citizenship act which not only signals out a community but also put India's relation with say Bangladesh and Afghanistan in a not so savory mode. If India wants to be a global and regional power it needs to forgo this narrow minded politics and look at the bigger picture.
