Which coloring are we speaking of? I believe she only judged the pink color cuz kronbae used red food coloring and not some natural stuff which could have come from ingredients... And she only mentioned that to give some compliments to faunmei's cake in comparison too

I grew up with the cakes from the 1969 edition of the Betty Crocker cookbook, and there's a nice one in there called Silver White Cake that, as the name suggests, has no coloring--unless, like me as a kid, you're too lazy to separate out just the egg whites, in which case it's yellow. :)
