Our walk to the Slaithwaite Moors nearly didn't happen. Due to unpredictable weather changes of low cloud mists, we decided to delay starting with a coffee stop in Marsden. Still with poor visibility and rather than returning home, we reversed the route starting low down along the Huddersfield Canal instead. Luckily the mists evaporated just before ascending up to Colne Valley Way and Slaithwaite Moors. Grateful our day was not completely wasted to enjoy the moorlands and full walk.

That was a wonderful walk, Shanita. It was a good call by Michael to do the route in reverse. The cloud/mist had definitely lifted by the time you were up there. It would have been such a shame to find yourselves missing out on those views. Those moors were on the boggy side, and that last leg down to the village looked very steep and slippery. One thing I've always found when out hiking is that you can always stop and chat to walkers you see. I spent about 20 minutes chatting to a gent up near Dead Edge End. He was the first person I'd seen in hours, but being out on the moors, you know you have at least that in common. Another fantastic hike, Shanita. I loved the music, too. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Chris. Yes that day brings back memories of how windy and muddy it was. Like you say we'v found other walkers so friendly in the most remote parts. Great to read your comments and on music too Chris.🙂

Thanks Shanita and Michael for another lovely walk. You are doing a great service by cataloguing all these wonderful places. I recall reading that banana skins are full of fibre, so can be washed down, blended into smoothies or baked/fried. They can also be chopped/mulched and used as plant or grass fertiliser. As can potato.

Hi Shanita & Michael! Glad the weather didn't spoil your day out walking. Some gawjus views was to be had. Intrigued by the conservatory, they obviously don't mind a little peeking going on lol! That massive fungi looked like a large balloon. I tried looking it up but couldn't identify it. Might have loved the wet environment out there. By the way Shanita you make a lovely weather forcaster 😊! Hope both your feet were dry and not wet as it looked very water logged on your way down. Thanks so much for sharing, always enjoy your walks. your vlogs are very interesting and i love to learn different things on our day out so to speak😊 till the next one, stay well you two!

Tried the idea of being a presenter once but didn't work out, so pursuing my own style instead. That fungi mushroom I had no idea what it was! Seemed to be the only mushroom in that field. Since that gale forecast there's been at least four more. So nice you enjoy sharing our experience walks.🙂

"Flippin Eck" that was muddy! You never know what you are going to stumble upon on these walks do you, I always enjoy that. Nice relaxing dreamy music Shanita. We did park up at Standedge car park for a walk along the canal and finished up at the tunnel. A lot to see around there, must go back.

We've also walked to Standedge Tunnel. A nice small cafe at the side of the tunnel where you can get on a boat and travel through it. Glad you got the sense of how wet and boggy underfoot it was. Having once been a dancer, I am more apprehensive about wading through mud and water. If you go back to Marsden, Mario's cafe (opposite the RailwayPub) do a superb latee/coffee. All best to you both Steve.

Another lovely walk Shanita, especially as it was around the lovely Marsden. Good that the mist cleared by the time you had climbed up from the canal, you had some great views by then. I did look boggy in places, glad you followed the Master's footsteps! 😄 Absolutely loved "Once Upon a Dream", a really soothing and pleasant synth score, lovely stuff. All the best 👍

A good idea Ken. Should be much warmer and less challenging in Spring, although one can never account for the weather these days. Thanks Ken.

A nice area and one I should go to more often, it not being that far. Saying that, I do visit Cupwith Moor quite often, when I need a quick moorland fix. It's a shortish drive and then I have a stroll down to Rodney Roberts' stone seat for a sit down. Bye for now, Chris

@@stewartbrady3651 That's fine Stewart. But Ramblers may be a different route to ours. The map link is the official explore OS Maps though, so it's well known. But no worries if preferring Ramblers. Cheers
