killbot86 No, he (Janus) could simultaneously be there watching in a cloaked jumper AND have the jumper still be left for SG-1 to find. This is because he went forward in time so that he could witness and record future events in a log, and then later went back in time to construct the pillars where he wrote down the significant future events (floods, droughts, Ares arrival and defeat, etc) and leave the jumper hidden for people to find. He knew he would do this because he would have seen that he did them while he was time traveling. Basically, because Janus went forward in time, there are now two time machine-jumpers. The one he himself is using, and the same one but millions of years older that he abandoned on the planet when he finished his experiments.

@@Jallorn That’s not true, the first time they did time travel they went back to the 1960s were they met a young Lt. Hammond, who found a note from his future self. Said future self remembered their meeting back then and even reminded Jack O’Niell of the debt he has promised to repay. They’ve never actually done alternate reality rules with time travel. Only the quantum mirror (which iirc they ended up destroying?) had them visiting alternative realities. All of their time travel stuff has been things that directly impacted their history.
