4:38 he was not. Azhag was one of the two Greenskin faction Leaders at the launch of TW: Warhammer 1. The only FLC Lord Greenskins have is Wurrzag.

True. And before the Greenskins update, Azhag also used to start in Black Crag with Grimgor. Wurrzag is FLC, and the goblin lords are DLC, which means thaat we need an Orc DLC for them.

Wurzaag is definitely the best LL as the units he buffs and having magic makes him a force later in the game. But Broken Axe is definitely the strongest Orc faction. Cauldron is op and Grom can ignore the horseshoe and go get all the other boys out of the gate.

I find that Grimgor is quite lacking since he isnt a caster, has no regen and doesnt have a mount. Grimgor definitely belongs on the 4th spot

Yeah but he's one of the most OP lords in the game. Casters don't matter when he can continually make himself unbreakable and on VH battles when he's levelled up he's basically worth 19 units by himself.

@@BoydTheMilkmanX Grimgor is good vs other lords but that's it. Overall he should be 4th on this list. Azag is actually better than him overall unless it comes to 1v1 with other lords.

Better or worse, Grom da paunch is my favorite greenskins/Gobo warlord. Grom's cauldron mechanic is one of my favorite mechanics in game right now. I love the food buffs it gives to your army. I mostly recruit goblins and trolls in Grom's army but I don't mind recruiting a orc war boss with a stack of orcs as kind of a body guard for the smaller, squishyer gobos.

I would say Skarsnik doesn't need orcs since the update. Between goblins and trolls as infantry and then wolf and spider riders they are really strong and fun.

Pretty much what I expected. Favorite faction in the game though. Vampires next I'm assuming. Please wait until after Taurox launches to do the beastmen unless you've already scheduled it that way. Got Vampires, Wood Elves, Bretonnia, and Chaos you can cover first since I'm assuming you're doing Norsca last. Whatever ya wanna do before July 14th. lol

Doing a grom play through rn and got almost instantly at war with everyone near haha but I’ve been doing good so far, took most of the surrounding area and atm about to advance on the high elves

To be fair, I would probably seperate ranking of different aspects for each faction (faction effects, starting position, unique scrap upgrades etc.) - something like that : 1. Faction Effects 1st place - Grimgor Ironhide : the effect is while basic really solid in my opinion (access to Black Orc Big Boss from the start is great - immunity to psychology for low leadership greenskins very valuable not to mention effect improving exp. your troops gained. 10% additional movement for all lords and heroes also helps in manuevers across map. Upkeep -15% for Black Orcs and Big Uns in the faction is quite handy considering this is core units of your armies.) 2nd place - Azhag the Slaughterer : his faction effect give him a good opportnity to try diplomacy with Vampire Counts (+40 bonus), not to mention that he later can access Nagashizzar unique building giving him additional +50 with them and Tomb Kings, with Immunity to V.Attrition factionwide plus bonuses like -20% CD for Lore of Death all armies (Azhag himself + Troll Hags), and Obedience penalty -100 for all provinces. Furthemore 25% more money from sacking settlements and 20% faster research rate - benefit the economy and general flow of faction. 3rd place - Wurrzag Da Great Green Prophet : his faction effects of interest would be charge bonus for all Savage Orcs factionwide (certainly nice for Greenskins playstyle) and the fact that enemy heroes has -50% chanse to make your life worse (but in my experience they rarely do that). 4th place - Grom the Paunch : you have -80 with High Elves from the start, so they probably will come for you, the saving grace is -1 turn for Goblin global recruitment wich is good early game but unfortunately fall behind much later as it mostly benefit Grom army while other stacks less so, and he has access to his Cauldron providing faction with additional buffs. 5th place - Skarsnik : this is unanimously last place - factionwide block for Orc recruitment unless you control 1 specific place, is crippling for a faction and unfortunately -40% Upkeep and recruitment cost for Goblins doesn't overshadow that, focus on heroes activity (-50% action cost and 100% more exp. gained) doesn't help either. 2. Scrap Upgrades + Unique Items 1st place - Grom : what I consider unique scrap upgrades for him is his Cauldron (for scrap consumption your faction gets buff for a significant duration) and whats better that doesn't prevent you from use of normal scrap upgrades from technological tree. In addition he gain access to Rare item in his campaign Blacktooth's Head in a Jar alowing casters in your army to summon Rogue Idol in battle. 2nd place - Wurrzag : his faction has unique scrap upgrades for Savage Orc units (all variations) called Idol of Gork which give them 30% Missle Resistance basicaly compensating their vulnerability. 3rd place - Skarsnik : has scrap upgrade for Night Goblins - Fungus Flasks which give them Skarsnik unique poison effect (same as normal but had damage over time), plus has Skarsnik's Bad Moon Banner (most notable effect - makes N.Goblin unit unbreakable) while the upgrades are nice the N.Goblins unfortunately lose to Savage Orcs therefore 3rd place in my opinion. 4th place - Grimgor : his problem is that his scrap upgrade Immortulz Armour (+10 Leadership\ Cause Fear) - limited to the high tier unit of Black Orcs not to mention that only Black Orc unit which will benefit from it would be Da Immortulz (no pun intended) in other words Black Orcs who equip his unique Da Immortulz banner which combined with upgrade will give 20 Leadership for assigned unit helping with banner primary effect (Entities cannot die if Leadership higher than 50%) 5th place Azhag : he has unique scrap upgrade Wizardly Weapons which give Orc and Big Uns +6 Armour-Piercing weapon damage, honestly I may be wrong but I don't think that to be a strong upgrade. 3. Starting Position and Armies (WH2) 1st place - Grimgor : Death Pass is an amazing starting zone - Black Crag 9 slots major settlement with 3 unique buildings in it plus additional 2 unique buildings in minor settlements int the same province, in term of starting units Grimgor right from the start has 1 unit of Black Orks, Doom Diver Catapult - both high tier units and can recruit Black Orc Big Boss from the start. 2nd place - Wurrzag : Western Badlands another great location - Ekrund while having 7 slots still has a uniqe building allowing you to recruit Savage Orcs from the start, not to mention good amount of minor settlements in the same province. The starting army also consist of Savage Orcs and 1 Night Goblin Shaman Hero - making it a solid start. The ability to reach Death Pass also quite beneficial for Wurrzag, and same can be said for Grimgor and his closeness to Ekrund. 3rd place - Grom : his starting lacation Massif Orcal is on one hand major settlement with 9 slots which is a plus, but it's the only settlement in the province which is minus, the saving point for Grom is the fact that he starts with Stone and River Trolls plus Giant River Troll Hag (a good lore of Death caster boosting army replenishment and capable of equiping uniqe item from Grom campaign) near Skarsnik starting zone meaning early confederation with another Legendary Lord. 4th place - Azhag : Azhag starts in Red Eye Mountain a decent major settlement with 7 slots capacity and Stunty Mine building chain providing him with extra income, he can benefit from nearby Vampire Counts thanks to his faction effect, but he is the only one seperated quite significantly from other Greenskin Legendary Lords which is a shame. His starting troop are somewhat average - 1 unit of Big Uns, 1 unit of Trolls, Rock Lobber but at the same time he start with Orc Shaman giving hin access to 2 Lores of magic from the beginning. 5th place - Skarsnik : Karak Azgaraz .....4 slots minor settlement, Grom starting in High Elves lands, yeah that's kinda sad the saving point I guess 1 Arachnarok Spider, 1 unit of Night Goblin (Fanatics) and Goblin Big Boss Hero. Now I can try to compare the LL battle capabilities but I think that's not cruicial because they have unique battle styles and use different types of units which make them interesting in their own categories and thanks to the confederate mechanic it's easy to get them in any Greenskin faction.

Look the fact that grom was not number one is confusing like his faction has the best mechanic out of all the greenskins and the French men aren't that hard to deal with early gamr and the only faction that is a threat are the high elves but they kinda leave you alone until like turn 25 or 30 and by then groms army should be strong enough to deal with them

Gotta say, I feel like you grossly overemphasize the importance of starting location. Besides, it could be argued that starting off in a worse location and thus giving the other Greenskin factions a better chance of survival is beneficial. Grom has arguably the BEST start for a campaign because he's the only one who can literally confederate all of the other lords. This is mostly because his AI faction if you are not playing as him might as well be not in the game at all, owed to an even more horrible starting location on Ulthuan where he never survives past the first 15-20 turns. Playing as Grimgor, it is impossible to get Grom and very unlikely to get Skarsnik who also tends to meet an untimely end when playing as the AI. Playing as Grom, you can make a quick dash for Skarsnik, confederating him early, then ravage Karak Norn and the Bretonnian Countryside and by the time you make it to the badlands, Grimgor and Wurrzag will have fought and confederated each other, leaving a Megawaaagh faction up for grabs, just by quickly sniping the faction leader. The Cauldron Buffs also easily make up for his lack of spells as they are often faction-wide. His start is also much easier than Skarsniks, as he starts off in Massif Orcal, which has several major advantages: 1: It's not a minor settlement like Skarsniks start, meaning it starts off walled and with a better garrison. 2: It's a single settlement province, meaning you don't need to conquer additional settlements to avoid a public order penalty. 3: It comes with a unique Stone Troll Quarry at Tier III which provides income, growth and allows you to Recruit Stone trolls whilst also increasing their recruit rank. Stone Trolls are already good, and Grom's Cauldron can boost them to utterly stupid levels of power. Grom also gets access to Blacktooths revenge, allowing 1 caster in his faction to summon a Rogue Idol in battle. Honestly... Grom is at least in the 2nd spot. Grimgor I'd actually put in 4th, simply because he quite literally brings nothing unique to the table that you can't just conquer with a different lord to get your hands on (aside from the Immortulz Armour scrap upgrade, which is garbage).

i play on legendary my best turn count for having all the lords confederated as grom is 25. i know for sure its possible to do it faster. as grom i once had grimgor confederated turn 8! fucked up the campaign though couldnt secure wurrzag cause i lost a battle. Grom is #1 by a mile. i reckon with good rng you could get the lords turn 15!!!. thats 1/4 the map yours essentially

You forgot the special items and scrap upgrades for the lords. For example, skarsniks death juice is quite powerful because you can stack it with normal poison for a double debuff. His special banner is also quite strong. Also, he had the best defence building chains in the game (it adds fanatics wich are great for deffence)

The title suggest that you're ranking legendary lords, but I think it's a little misleading since you're also ranking their factions and their faction bonuses.

You dont have to leave your main city with Grom, I beat the crap out of all the bretonian factions around me and then set an army up on the shore to fight off the Elves bc the AI is too dumb to send more then one army across the water at a time.

Ever tried Chaos SFO ? They're utterly ridiculous. If you dedicate your units to Nurgle they get a passive regen and debuff enemies.....My Chaos warriors are such chads they always end the fight with the same units they started and just outlast everything the enemy throws at them + rack up kills. Not to mention the Chosen their upgrade is just down right unbeatable by AI on Very Hard. Now I'm trying Greenskin but Grimgor didn't feel good and I'm struggling a bit with Wuzzagh but his spells are so over the top.

Ehh, Skarsnik the worst? Maybe before Greenskins rework, not after. Skarsnik death juice scrap upgrade is insane and goblins with all the tech upgrades that you can get VERY early on alongside all lord perks and few ranks makes those goblins that cost nothing stronger than dwarf warriors. Lightning strike is also amazing cause generally you just dont pick it with greenskins, but once there is good time to use it, it shines. Only orcs you need in campaign are black orcs in endgame. You can literally not recruit any other orc and you are fine. Grom is nearly the best greenskin lord, if not the best. Personally i would have trouble deciding between him and Wurzhag. However Grom with his cooking skills and his chariot is just an absolute beast. On top of it, he makes goblins even better AND has earlier access to stone trolls. Give him 4 of those and he will conquer entire brettonia in a blink of an eye. Grimgor being 2nd is questionable at best. He is one of the worst lords in the game, even after buffs. No mount, nothing special about him, armor and leadership buff for black orcs that are already walking tanks with high leadership. Only thing he has going for him is his combat prowess but since he has no mount, he just gets tossed around by mounted lords and isnt even the best 1v1 combatant to begin with. He would struggle with the likes of Tyrion, Throgg or Kholek, Snikch would probably also give him a run for his money. Pretty sure list should look like Wurzhag/Grom-Azhag-Skarsnik-Grimgor.

I feel like one more thing that should have been considered is unique scrap Upgrades, which all Greenskin LL's with the exception of Grom (for some reason) have. The best one is probably Fungus Flasks for Skarsnik, which gives Night Goblin units an improved version of poison that not only debuffs enemies but also applies a damage over time effect. Second best might be Wurrzag's Idol of Gork which grants Savage Orc units significant missile resistance. It's quite useful as Savage Orcs lack shields and armour, though other scrap upgrades might still be a better choice. Then there's Azhag's Wizardly Weapons: +6 AP for Orc Boyz, Arrer Boyz and Big'Uns, it also gets disabled if the unit is wavering. Pretty shite tbh, as there's also Reinforced Weapons which is just outright better, but you don't need any technology to unlock it which is a plus. It really should imbue magic damage imo. Last and in my opinion also Least is Grimgors Immortulz Armour. It grants +10 LD and Fear to Black Orcs. This is honestly horrible. Black Orcs are already immune to psychology and have excellent Leadership, so it's just kind of a waste for what is a prohibitive amount of Scrap. Iirc it used to grant actual armour in a pre-release version (the describtion text also still reflects that) and that would definitely have been a better effect. The only reason to ever use it is to possibly make more out of the Immortulz Banner. Speaking of: Skarsnik and Grimgor also come with unique banners. Skarsnik's Banner really boosts a unit of Goblins or Night Goblins, improving their stats and making them unbreakable. Grimgor's Immortulz Banner can render a unit of Black Orcs quite literally immortal until their leadership drops below 50% (they technically can still "die" if they get splatted by artillery, but I think the game doesn't actually count it as a casualty post-battle).

the immortal banner with grimgor can have your orcs at 0hp with full unit count. its broken as long as you can buff their leadership beyond 50%. you're right they go back to full health at the end of the battle since they lost no units

I agree with you on azhag since he has lore of death and mount options and imo a more fun campaign but lists like these are subjective and the fun is that no one is necessarily wrong with their own

@@ho8ojoe8 yeah autoresolving is gonna favor grimgor over azhag since it seems to weigh melee lords over caster lords a lot of the time. Still though I'd hate to play this game to auto resolve all the battles, rather just play civ if the campaign map is all you are in it for

this list is bad. skarsnik 5th grimgor4th azhag3rd wurrzag2nd grom1st Grom has the BEST start. you can have all legendary lords confederated turn 20 on legendary. he is the best fighter of the lords. his cauldron is broken and solves all your obedience issues.
