At the end of "Aliens" they had a fantastic set of characters all with unique distinctive personalities and motivations. Hicks, bishop, newt......So many possibilities for fantastic future the "Alien" sequals. Then they made the third, and just killed them all off screen, and destroyed any chance of a good sequel that includes the original actors and time line. Well done Hollywood.👍

...they don't really deserve much forgiveness, they made terrible decisions with the Alien franchise, they derailed the massive potential and momentum that was created in the second film. It could have been something great, if only it was handled better, by people who actually understood what the audience wanted.👍

...I know, I wish we got the film where Hicks, Ripley and Newt all survived. But in their great wisdom - they decided to focus on the evil David character in the sequel to "Prometheus" instead, and it flopped. Yet the cancelled "Aliens" sequel that had hicks and newt still alive, would have most likely been received well by audiences. The geniuses in Hollywood strike again (unfortunately).

They had all that and what did they do? 1. They left no one on the mothership to rescue them if they get in trouble. 2. They park the dropship in the middle of xenomorph infested area and they leave the door wide open. 3. They sent only a dozen men to fight hundreds of xenomorphs and try and save possibly over 200 survivors... And to transport them to safety with a craft that can't take more than a dozen people at a time? 4. Their 'expert' soldiers couldn't even be bothered to read what they were up against, or even hear a super short version of it. 5. They proceeded to go into xenomorph nest armed with absolutely nothing but two flamethrowers. Yeah, these guys went there to get themselves k1lled and to save no one.

The colonial marines uniform doesn't look sci-fi at all. It's a normal unifirm with some tech in it, and the Vietnam war vibe for the marines doesn't help in this regard. Personally i would have opted for a hazmat suit+tactical vest combo, depicting the marines as cold blooded professionals prepared for any environment and threat. But this would have conflicted with the motif of the movie, wich was: "Vietnam war in space".

Which is a stupid premise, since the universe takes place nearly 200 years into the future, yet their gear doesnt look futuristic at all save for the pulse Rifle and Smart gun. Those helmets killed their immersion it was too on the nose.

Great vid! To few bring up the awful, almost worthless gear the Colonial Marines get vs xenomorphs. Sure! If they didnt knew about/ get intel about the xenos before mission. I get that. But vs xenos you NEED. Facehugger and other xenoform counter measures like: Full acid proof armors ( all parts of body! ), undersuits, anti-facehugger collars, helmets+goggles. Facehugger embryo extraction devices, electroshock panels on armor even. More suitable weapons. Plasma based and gear printing Hyperdyne gear especially! Also remote drones, remote detonator bots etc. Tons more they could prepare with! Costs be damned. Again Hyperdyne 😁

They do have Plasma based weaponry. Vehicle mounted and infantry based (Plasma Infantry Gun or the PIG) As well as phased particle beam weapons. Not to mention various chemical, biological, and nuclear (fission and fusion) armaments

Good video, but you missed a Spot they have a mobile combat The Exosuit featured in Aliens versus Predator 2, known as "Alice", features twin 'over and under' rotary guns and a rocket launcher on the right arm with a laser and flamethrower on the left arm. It is also quite mobile, being able to jump and even perform boosted crouch jumps, though jumping and using the laser does use a significant amount of energy from the regenerating energy reserve.

Because it isnt, Colonial marine gear was not designed to fight Xenos idk why OP said they were, the events of this movie would have lead to the production of proper gear.

@@SagaciousNihilistExactly, these guys are warfighters. They got tanks, artillery, everything a military needs. They rely on thermal and motion trackers, so do their enemy. Having never encountered Xenomorphs, apart from their weapons, the rest isn't as up to the task when it comes to fighting them. The survivors still kicked ass in the end though.

For them not to have either power armor, power exoskeletons or powered hard suits in that time line makes no sense. A new comic and game that incorporates that facet can jumpstart a story that have been neglected for far 2 long.

in my opinion, while ALIENS was indeed a good movie and a good sequel, it very much ruined the alien expanded universe, like come on! No matter where you go: "Xenomorph killer" this, "Xenomorph killer" that, "ultimate xeno-ass kicking marines" that too, etc.
